VV confirms interest in Parker

On July 6, KickOff.com broke news that Amakhosi have earmarked the Bafana Bafana striker to replace Knowledge Musona, who is currently in Germany discussing a deal with Hoffenheim.

No sooner had the story been up than it was dismissed as rubbish. Well, we can confirm from the horse’s mouth, Vladimir Vermezovic – head coach of Chiefs – that the club is indeed after Parker.

Vermezovic says: “Bernard Parker is on my [wanted] list. I know him from Serbia where he used to play for Red Star. He wasn’t so lucky to play many games there, but I also saw him in Bafana Bafana and he is a good striker. We are looking for some strikers and Parker is on my list.”

The Serb says Chiefs’ pursuit of Parker, any further than just mere interest, will depend on whether Musona secures a move to the Bundesliga.

“Everything depends on what happens with Musona. There is a big chance Musona will go, because as you know he is already in Germany,” says Vermezovic.

“Musona and Bobby are in Germany and in two days we will have some information. We are looking for another striker in case Musona stays in Germany,” he says.

Vermezovic also dismissed out of hand rumours that Chiefs are after Uganda striker Emmanuel Okwi, who is apparently set to join Chiefs for a second trial from Tanzanian club Simba.

“But the Ugandan striker never came for the trials… we will be bringing some players for trials,” Vermezovic adds.
