Tefu Mashamaite says Tottenham Hotspur should be wary of Kaizer Chiefs
Tefu – Chiefs will challenge next season

New Kaizer Chiefs signing Tefu Mashamaite is confident Amakhosi will challenge for the League title next season – providing they can maintain their upward curve.
Mashamaite, who joined the Soweto club last month as a replacement for Belgium-bound Valery Nahayo, says Chiefs have improved a great deal in the last while, but have been undone by a lack of consistency.
“For the past two or three seasons, Chiefs have changed tremendously,” he tells KickOff.com. “It has always been a challenge playing against Chiefs, especially this past season.
“When you played against them you could feel it was a different game. The movement they make when going forward, the fitness ... it is just unfortunate that they didn’t win the League. It came down to inconsistency.
“When they played Ajax, one of the top football-playing teams in the country, they reduced them to being nothing. If they can keep that level than they can go all the way.”
Mashamaite will link up with his new teammates on June 27 for pre-season training, with his first big assignment being the Vodacom Challenge against League champions Orlando Pirates and English Premiership side Tottenham Hotspur.
But far from being daunted facing the likes of Gareth Bale and Luka Modric, the 26-year-old says that Spurs should be wary of facing Chiefs!
“I don’t like to think of other players as ‘bigger’ than us,” he tells KickOff.com. “They are fortunate enough for us to be watching them on telly, but if you sit down and compare, there is not much of a difference between us and them. It’s the media who make it appear in our eyes that they are more advanced than us.
“Yes, the levels might not be the same, but at the end of the day we can beat Spurs. In fact, they should be looking forward to swapping jerseys with us!”
