Chippa United FC thrilled their Cape Town supporters at UWC by beating Durban Stars 1-0 at the 2011 Vodacom Play-offs, thus winning promotion into the lucrative National First Division.
Siviwe Mpengeni’s team will now join FC Cape Town as the Mother City’s representatives in the country’s second tier for next season, after a first-half goal by Diego Brown today made certain his side topped the Coastal Stream.
It was a tight match in which both clubs had numerous opportunities but the Nyanga outfit rose to the occasion by keeping a clean sheet.
Buffalo FC also won their final group encounter, easing 3-1 past Real Madrid at Philippi, but they had to settle for the runners-up berth.
On Sunday, Chippa face their Inland counterparts Sivutsa Stars in the Final at Philippi, kick-off 3pm.
