Sivutsa Stars promoted to First Division

Sivutsa Stars promoted to First Division

Mpumalanga’s Sivutsa Stars have won promotion from the regional Vodacom Second Division into the NFD after overcoming Highlands Park 1-0 in the Play-offs at UWC, pipping favourites Baroka who beat Garankua United 3-2.

The unbeaten Stars only needed a draw to clinch the Inland Stream but ended with all three points to top the table after three consecutive victories - thanks to a first half strike by Velile Zitha.   Baroka FC finished second in the group after coming from behind.   Tshepang Mabatla put Garankuwa into a first half lead but three goals in the second period – one from Msimeli Baloyi and a brace by Johannes Ramatsela – briefly kept their slim, yet ultimately futile, hopes of promotion alive, before Mutomi Mosena pulled one back to give the score an air of respectability.   Stars will now face the winner of the Coastal Stream (either Chippa FC or Buffalo FC) in the Final on Sunday at Philippi (kick-off 15h00).

It's time to show the so called Emalahleni team, how we do things in Mbombela, just look at the support Sivutsa will get in all their home games, it will be more than Chiefs and Pirates combined

Baroka hard luck. We knw u can eat the chickens & chips of natirena. I blame the PSL teams that were after ur key players services. That has affected thier concentration! Let's try next season Mr. Chokoe.
