Chippa FC oust Roses from Vodacom Play-offs

Posted: 10 June 2011 Time: 15:05

The Coastal Stream of the 2011 Vodacom League Play-offs has reached a very exciting stage following the 4-1 thrashing that Chippa FC gave Roses United on Friday at Philippi.

Roscoe Pietersen and Clayton Edem scored for the Mother City outfit in the first half while Diego Brown netted a brace from the penalty spot in the second period which means this division will go down to wire with current leaders Chippa needing a victory in their final game against Durban Stars on Saturday, to make certain of promotion.

Lebohang Kukame was on the scorecard for the Free State club but this loss has knocked them out of contention with no further matches to play, although the only side that can catch Chippa is Buffalo FC who faces Real Madrid at noon on Saturday (both games kick-off simultaneously).

In the other game played on Friday at UWC, Durban Stars bounced back from a heavy defeat to beat Real Madrid, 1-0 thanks to a Khulekani Magubane strike.
