Vasco da Gama managed to score a crucial away goal to secure a 1-1 draw in their National First Division Promotion/Relegation Play-Off semifinal, first leg, encounter with Black Leopards at the Seshego Stadium on Wednesday.

Earlier in the afternoon, Thanda Royal Zulu and Bay United played to a goalless draw at the Richards Bay Sports Complex in the other semifinal.

On a bumpy Seshego ground, the Cape Town side dominated the opening stages, forcing six corners in the opening 30 minutes, but conceded the opener when Breslyn Hempe handled in the box and Mongezi Bobe made no mistake from the spot.

Leopards looked good going forward in the second period with Mahlatse Maake and Grant Lunga having a busy afternoon.

Yet shortly after Sibusiso Zuma had hit the crossbar with a neat chip, Carlos das Neves’ side equalised with 20 minutes to go when substitute Jerome Ramathlakwana headed home a Roberto do Espirito Santo cross.

Leopards almost grabbed a winner at the death, but were thwarted twice by the excellent work of Vasco goalkeeper Posnett Omony.

Bafana's top 5 marksmen of all time:
1. Benni McCarthy
2. Phil Masinga
3. Siphiwe Tshabalala
4. Shaun Bartlett
5. Katlego ‘Killer’ Mphela

That'Sowetan for you why refuse to give credit where they due. Benni has done and achieved more than all these players not taking away that Mphela has the highest average goal per game than all of these guys. Who can blame them for not giving Benni his credits bcos even KANU didn't call him.

if leorpad come victorious in capetown, then they wl b playing in da psl nxt season, wat i c is a final btween thanda n vasco, as for thanda, i did watch their game, they r a gud team bt sum of their players dont push for extra effort, as a player u push to da limit, this young boy, they do dat once in their life time, dats when they r on trials, n dats it, players like phumudzo manendze, i was so disappointed. Ofcorse he even never derseve to hav played for da mighty bucs, bt for thanda i thot he wil show sum class of proffesionalsm lyk peter wadabwa, dat man was just by hmself, even dat gumede another former psl player was not gud enaugh, bt stil i fancy them to play vasco in da final,

Go JJ Go! look at the beauty of that goal scored by the Big Animal from Botswana! I said it "having scored 6 goals in AFCON and being the top goal scorer of Afcon so far would aways make him the saviour of VASCO and you know what he will score again and make sure VASCO comes back to PSL. VIVA Jarome VIVA"!!
