Orlando Pirates two-goal hero Thulasizwe Mbuyabe has attributed their success this season to hard work and dedication from everybody involved with the Mighty Buccaneers.
After Black Leopards went 1-0 up in the Nedbank Cup Final yesterday, Mbuyane created the equalising goal before scoring two more to take the score to 3-1 and hand Pirates the Treble in style.
Speaking in an interview with KickOff.com, 'Juju', who is KICK OFF's star man for the match, also thanks the club’s supporters for staying behind the team throughout the season.
"I think it would be unfair to pick out any individual behind the team’s success as everyone deserves credit for making this history with Orlando Pirates Football Club," he says.
"I actually only realised after the game that we are the first team in the PSL era to win three trophies in one season, including the League, and credit must go to the players, technical team, management and especially the fans!
"It didn’t come easy but we fought for each other on the field and I think we deserve all the success we have achieved this season."
Reflecting back to the game, Mbuyane says Isaac Chansa's equaliser was the turning point for Bucs.
"We started the game slowly and gave away a soft goal early in the second half,” Juju says. “However, despite being a goal down, we showed great character and Chansa's goal came at the time when we needed it most.
But Mbuyane says the feeling of scoring the third and final goal cannot be beaten.
"It is always great to score goals but pick up the third one was the best!" he says. "The moment I received the ball I knew I needed composure … but I knew I could also have got a penalty!”
