Orlando Pirates expected to win Nedbank Cup this weekend

Players say Bucs' experience will win it

Posted: 2011-05-26 06:50

Premiership players are putting their money on Orlando Pirates to win the Nedbank Cup Final this weekend.

Pirates take on First Division side Black Leopards in what is an already sold out match at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday. Kick-off is at 15h00.

Newly-signed Kaizer Chiefs defender Tefo Mashamaite, who lifted the trophy with Bidvest Wits against AmaZulu last season, is among those who favour Bucs.

"I think Pirates deserve it. They have worked hard throughout the season. But as much as they look favourites, they must not allow complacency to creep in because underdogs are always dangerous.

"We [Wits] went into the Final against AmaZulu last season as underdogs but came back victorious, so Pirates should not underestimate Black Leopards."

SuperSport United defender Thabo September says experience counts in Bucs' favour on Saturday.

"Pirates have been in two cup finals this season and this gives them the edge in terms of experience. After winning the League their confidence is high and I see them winning the Final on Saturday."

Golden Arrows midfielder Thanduyise Khuboni says Lidodo Duvha's lack of experience will be their downfall.

"After winning the League, the spirit at Pirates should be high at this stage. They have not been winning trophies over the past few years, but are now chasing the treble. They will want to set a record on Saturday.

"Pirates have been there before this season and that will make a big difference in terms of experience on Saturday," he adds.

At OPFC we take it one game at a time we do not rush things, on the game on satday we are going there to pay for a win. we want to wrap it up inside 90 minutes. what will matter the most here will be to bury our chances, if we squander them we might find ourselves at sea.
Operation one game at a time continues and we shall see come 6 pm on satday how the mood in Mbombela will be looking like.

I have no doubt that we will win the nedbank cup,Leopards are a first division club and we are the psl champions and without a doubt the best club in Southern club, there is too much difference between us and Leopards.Good luck to the Champions!

To all Chips supporters: guys please dont watch the game on saturday,it might be too much for you to bare...go to exile or smthng, but dont be in SA on saturday cos you might get hurt again just like you did when we won the league last Saturday.

Krol should start with daine Klate in the absence of Mabalane and give Mayambela another chance,Thwala and Mhlongo should remain on the bench,if Ndulula is not fit Otorogu should be given a chance

You know what i think?Klaite can rest a bit and Phenyo Mungalo be given a chance.well Orotogu also need another chance.and i also thing coach can put Msowoya and Orotogu infront just once and see the combination.this is 2nd division team he wont lose anything.of they fumble then try Mbuduma.with Orotogu.

ABT: 2011-05-26 09:39

Our self appointed foes/enemies, since the start of the 2010/11 season, have been predicting Orlando Pirates downfall. Before each anf every game they would say "Pirates is gonna loose". They continue doing so. It has not sunk in their minds that we are South African champions. Next season we ill be playing in the African Champions league

THIBOZ : 2011-05-26 09:58

I feel sori for Chipz fans I know its hard to see Pirates achieve this much. WE ARE SA CHAMPIONS LIVE WITH IT b'cos the sooner you accept the better. As leopards I hope you wear another kit on saturday not gold and black coz you gonna drive bakajuju crazy, can't wait to see you been skinned alive. UP THE BUCS

gwanyana: 2011-05-26 10:21

I WENT THROUGH ALL THE COMMENTS AND I DIDN'T SEE ANY CHIEFS FANS COMMENTING HERE BUT SOME IDIOTS ARE COMMENTING ABOUT CHIEFS INSTEAD OF RATS AND LEOPOLD. THE TRUTH IS CHIEFS IS STILL AND WILL ALWAYS BE BIGGEST TEAM IN AFRICA YOU LIKE IT OR NOT

AND ABOUT THE GAME ON ON SATURDAY.... I WOULD SAY THE RATS HAVE 99.9% CHANCES OF WINNING THE NEDBANK SO THERE WILL BE NO SURPRISES THERE. BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE....WE WILL WATCH THE GAME AND IF YOU LOOSE WE WILL LAUGH @ YOU AND WE WILL CELEBRATE WITH BLACK LEOPOLD SO JUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU DON'T MAKE THAT MISTAKE OF LOOSING THAT GAME!

KidKudu7: 2011-05-26 10:44

I see the Mighty Buccaneers taking this Nedbank Cup with ease this coming Saturday...Black Leopards is playing in the NFD (Mvela) & have no harm to dent our celebrations @ all.

To all those synical Chimps fans; they should just drown their sorrows in the nearby tarvens/pub cause its the Galaxy of Stars season.

UP THE MIGHTY BUCS!!!!!!!!!

Zosha: 2011-05-26 11:43

Someone is dreaming. Gwanyana must wake up NOW. Chiefs the biggest team? Oh my gosh!! That is why they will be watching from the stands the Bucs lift their third trophy!!
