Queiroz tips Manucho for success

Former Bafana Bafana coach and Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz believes that Angolan hitman Manucho will benefit from his loan deal at Panathinaikos, and will in turn be prepared for Premier League football next season.

The striker, who is on loan at the Greek side after signing for United just prior to the Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana at the New Year, scored on his debut at the weekend.

Manucho was unable to compete for the Red Devils due to work permit concerns, but Queiroz believes that a spell with Pana may in fact do him good in any case.

“He just needs the opportunity to learn the game and get used to the pace of European football.

“We believe sending him on loan to Panathinaikos will help him to develop and if everything goes well we hope next season we will see him among our players.”

Queiroz told Goal.com that the 25-year-old has numerous attributes that will see him fare well in Greece.

“First of all he is a player that can score goals,” explained Queiroz.

“He’s not the sort of player you come across easily and to have the possibility to bring quality forwards to our club doesn’t happen very often.

“We are absolutely convinced he has enough qualities and potential to have a chance in the game, despite the fact that he is now 25.”
