Kaizer Chiefs defender Valery Nahayo set to join KAA Gent

Posted: 18 May 2011 Time: 15:31

KickOff.com has learnt that Kaizer Chiefs are willing to sell defender Valery Nahayo to Belgium club KAA Gent for R10million.

The Burundi international left Naturena for Belgium last week for trials and, according to our sources, Chiefs have already started lining up a replacement, with the likes of Bidvest Wits captain Tefu Mashamaite, SuperSport United defender Morgan Gould and Nasief Morris all touted as possible replacements.

Nahayo spent five days with Gent, but has since returned for the AmaKhosi’s crucial League match against AmaZulu this Saturday.

KickOff.com has been informed that the defender impressed during his spell overseas, but Chiefs chairman Kaizer Motaung would not confirm nor deny anything.

“The chances for him to go are 50-50, but it depends on the team overseas obviously,” Motaung says. “But I was informed that it wasn’t a trial, it was just a team getting to know him to see whether he will fit in their set-up, so we will wait and see.

“We haven’t discussed or decided on anything, but if he does go obviously we will be looking around as a matter of emergency. I’m just waiting for the coach next week to sit down with me and say ‘these are my plans for next season and these are the players we can probably look at’.

“Once that is done then we will be able to announce VV’s plan.”

However, KickOff.com’s sources say Chiefs have already made an enquiry with Wits for Mashamaite and that the Students are willing to sell him provided the Soweto club come up with a better offer.

HAVE YOUR SAY: You happy with the names being linked to replace Nahayo?

I dn't think Mashamaite will b a gud relacement. We r not going 2 b buying players that still need 2 b molded. Morgan is a ready made product and will fit well with the liked of Isaacs and Sweswe.

We can also use R5m 2 bring in Sangweni and the club will still be left with another R5m 2 can get a quality striker.

Morgan must be the first choice but if all fails, anyone of these players can do the job. Glamour Boy!

Only an out of contract player will do, we all know that the cabbage farm chimpz are broke. Mark my words, they will not afford Mashamaite since he is going to OP, Morris will join them since he is out of contract and for free.

We all know thay we won't get Gould,Sangweni or Mashamaite cause the practice in SA football is that whenever Chiefs show interest in a player their agents run over to Motsepe for more money as they know he likes to put one over Chiefs.Just look across the border for two central defenders.

As for Kaizer I am surprised he's talking about preparing lists next week.He seems to have lost the plot completely. Supersport,Pirates and Sundowns have already engaged their targets for next season. No wonder we haven't signed anyone of note for the past 3 seasons.

We are unlikely to get any of Mashamaite,Gould or Isaacs or Sangweni as the practice in SA football is for agents to run to Motsepe for more money as soon as Chiefs show interest. Just look across the border for two central defenders and let Sweswe and Jambo go.
As for Kaizer I am starting to think that he has lost the plot completely. He's talking about lists and next week when Supersport,Pirates and Sundowns have already engaged their transfer targets. It's about time that clown VV also learns the politics of SA football.Maybe he will then stop making unrealistic lists.
