Flying Eagles get Presidential commendation

Posted: 2011-05-02 18:22

Nigeria President Goodluck Jonathan has commended the Flying Eagles on their victory over Cameroon at the African Youth Championship Final on Sunday.

The national Under-20 team edged a close-fought encounter 3-2 in extra time to claim the trophy.

In a statement signed by Ima Niboro, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, the President praised the 'doggedness and resilience' showed by the Flying Eagles and said they had made the country proud.

President Goodluck, who won re-election, last month, assured the squad of the Federal Government's continued support as they head for the Fifa Under-20 World Cup.

The squad arrived in Lagos on Monday afternoon, and will be hosted to a reception by the Minister of Sports at the Sheraton Hotel, Lagos.

I CONGRATULATE THEM BUT THEY ARE STILL old men IN UNDER-20 CLOTHING except i see their birth certificate. please Coach Obuh should better invite my Oga pikin for the world cup proper, Uchenna Soludo(only 16yrs old), a teenage All american sensational high school striker. fans will go insolvent just to watch this wonder boy's facile control of the soccer ball.
Without making any conjexture in my remarks, NIGERIA CAN NEVER WIN any UNDER-20 WITHOUT MY OGA PIKIN, UCHENNA SOLUDO EXCEPT HIS COUNTERPART EXIST somewhere IN THIS Nigeria.

This Okonhouseboy is one of the most ignorant people to ever come to this site. Unbelievable bushman.

ken gadaffi: 2011-05-02 20:17

This is a sign of good things to come. We are really not there yet because winning the age grade competition has never been a problem for us which is why we have won the AYC 6 times now out of 17.
My happiness however is to see that the coach of the U-17 that won silver in the last u-17 world cup is now handling the u-20 and has now conqurered africa, i hope he can go on to conquer the world and one day graduate to Super eagles with bulk of the team. that way we will say we have really arrived. but should these players just fade away like others before them, we will be back to square one again.

Weldone FE, well done Coach Obuh and his crew

THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH

OkonHouseBoy: 2011-05-02 20:25

@oga Boa, what behavior conspicously qualify me as an ignorant **** sapien? the bible said, speak the truth and it shall ultimately set you free. if not, there is absolutely no basis for your accusation sir. However, i strongly stand on my assertion that "Uchenna Soludo(16 years old), my Oga pikin, if eventually invited, will deliver Under-20 world cup to nigeria".

Soccerwisdom: 2011-05-02 21:20

OkonHouseBoy, why don't you post the guy's youtube video on the site let's see.
It is great that many great players are coming up everywhere. However we are getting a lot of strikers, apart from nosa igiebor and Joel Obi, we need more midfielders and then defenders.
This will make the scouting job of the coaches easy.

Teebuz: 2011-05-02 21:47

For those who expect a lot of new talents from this lot, sorry to burst your bubble, many are already too old. Adokiye has made more revelations and he gave clear authoritative examples. But the 'God-fearing-tongues-speaking-loud-praying' Nigerians here choose to look the other way and celebrate a lie. Six-time African champions and two-time Nations Cup champions... enjoy your deceit and false idea of wisdom.

Teebuz: 2011-05-02 21:53

Everyone abusing Okonhouseboy here should never abuse Ibrahim Babangida - they would have looked the other way and done worse than IBB - A lie, is a lie, is a lie. Lies ruins people and nations and achieve nothing. In religious speak, supporting age-cheating is keeping a cobenant with Lucifer period.

Omo 9ja: 2011-05-02 22:22

Congratulations. God bless Nigeria!

matigo : 2011-05-02 22:25

The boys have done well. There may be complaints from those who are either too concerned about certain issues- age cheating or are just disgruntled: we shall get it right with some more concerted efforts not mere condemnations here and there.

Olisa : 2011-05-03 00:43

Some Y'll should cut them flying eagle lads some slack, we all know some of them are not the age they claim but they didn't compete with lads younger than they're either. May be Caf should call it under 30 or something...lol

Cool Cat: 2011-05-03 01:10

Congratulation to our great flying eagles for a wonderful outing while wishing them good luck on the world stage.

Philosopher`: 2011-05-03 06:50

I said it! May i ask this question; had it been the flying eagles were knocked out of the championship without lifting the trophy, will there be age cheating issue? Whoever that can not celebrate the success of another man can never see success in his life.

As for that jobless man (i dont care to know his name) is just seeking cheap popularity. According to him, he raised thesame concerned during the last u-17 wc and nothing was done. If nothing was done about the claim, why coming out again?

Oh just look at how @OKONHOUSEBOy keep mentioning the name of one particular player that he want obuh to include in the squad (whether by hook or by crook) you said the player is 16yrs? Now if obuh include him in the squad and people start complaining about the true age of the player due to his physical look how would you feel?
For repeatedly mentioning this player's name has just give us a clue on why you are complaining (simply becouse your player was left out of the squad?) you are just a bad belle.

Mega: 2011-05-03 09:20

Infact our problem might be that talent too much for 9ja. If we had very few of them,we would appreciate. Good Gesture from Goodluck.

Peace

no be una fault: 2011-05-03 11:26

@Philosopher, You sound as if you dont know these frustrated arm chair good for noting critics, it could have been worst if they were knockout in group stages becos they could still have attributed it to age cheating saying something like "the old FE papas was unable to cope with real U20 opponent becos all of them are in their late 30s and couldn't keep up to pace with their youthful opponent.

So no matter wot you do either success or failure they will seek ways of discrediting you it helps them to run away from their sorry state of life "that is temporally"

Another tin i have come to notice is that some unhealthy minds only post comments here to seek cheap popularity and they only way for those few who are learned forum nite would show maturity is to ignore totally any comment made by an attention seekers

We cant stop them from blabbing in KON but we can ignore their comment to shame them for good

francobaresi: 2011-05-03 17:52

Bob : 2011-05-04 10:20

@Ugonna ...Which level are you talking about when you talk about Nigeria being the Best Football Nation in Africa..If youth [age - wise ], thats fine but senior level, i beg to differ. How many ANC Titles have Nigeria won, only 2.

Bob : 2011-05-04 10:21

Anyways Obuh's boys are not good enough to win the U-20 World Cup
