Bay United are the 2010/11 NFD Coastal Stream champions, after beating FC Cape Town 1-0 with an injury-time goal from Brice Aka at the Gelvandale Stadium.

At the other end of the log relegation-threatened Hanover Park got a great 3-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers, which means the fight to stay up goes down to the final game next weekend.

Umlilo will now clash with in-form Jomo Cosmos in the Promotional Play-offs for the right to play in the Premiership next season.

Thanda Royal Zulu, who beat Nathi Lions 3-1 at King Zwelithini Stadium, are also in the Play-off hat, but with this defeat Amabhubhesi have sunk to within a point of Hanover.

Phumudzo Manenzhe netted a brace for the Richard’s Bay outfit while his teammate Sandile Gumede was the other man on the score-sheet.

Hanover must now out-wit third placed Carara Kicks, and hope that Blackburn can do them a favour against Lions at Buffalo City next Sunday.

Kicks managed a 2-1 victory over African Warriors at Charles Mopeli but their last match is at Goble Park.

In the Inland Stream, Jomo Cosmos beat relegated Batau FC 2-1, with Souleymane Diabate one of the scorers, while Black Leopards overpowered Dynamos 2-0 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The match between FC AK and United FC ended goalless.

Poor field markings at the Ackerville Stadium resulted in officials calling off Witbank Spurs' important home clash with University of Pretoria – with the teams due to return to Witbank on Wednesday.

Both Leopards and Tuks are in the running for that all-important runner up spot, which would guarantee them a shot at promotion to the Premiership.

Well done to Bay United, just win the play offs and go to PSL. The Nelson Mandela Stadium could be put in good use because its becoming more like a white elephant now. Good luck with your play offs.

Since our Local Municipality has spent millions of rands to lease clubs as Chiefs, Supersport and Free State Stars to host some of their official matches in the Peter Mokaba Sports Complex, it's good news that Bay United FC has qualified for Promotional Play Offs and stand a good chance of being promoted to the PSL, thus meaning the people of Limpopo Province would no longer starve of top flight football activities if Bay United FC wins promotion to the PSL. I just hope that our Limpopo Provincial government as well as Local Municipality can come in handy to assist Bay United FC where possible during the Promotional Play Offs. People should not forget that, Bay United FC was sold during the off season to Limpopo Entrepreneure in Ms Mogaladi who's closely related to Winnerspark FC owner. The owner of Bay United FC she's reported to be based in Polokwane and originally from Zebediela. So charity begins at home, Bay United will play its PSL matches at the Peter Mokaba Sports complex in Polokwane come next season. A plus is that 80% of Bay United playing staff members are all from Limpopo Province and more than 60% of players were signed from Winnerspark FC. I've been following Bay United progress this season with interest.

uhu....so the winner doesnot get automatic promotion? how does this work in mzanzi somebody explain,,,bay are champions but have to go to play offs?

pius: 2011-05-03 12:36

@drumzz
Bay united still needs to play against Cosmos since cosmos are the champions in the Inland stream and whoever wins there will get automatic promotion to PSL. Whoever looses there will get another chance in the playoffs with number 15 in the PSL and number two of both Inland and Coastal streams. My wish is for Bay United to beat Cosmos and gain automatic promotion cos I am not a fan of Cosmos`s rough play and I know they (cosmos) do not stand a chance in the playoffs.

I HATE PLAY-OFFS. Absolutely it's unfair for Cosmaos and Bay United to go for PSL play-offs.

My wish for PSL promotion/relegation has always been:

1 - Number of teams is increased from 16 to 18.
2 - PSL automatically relegates two teams in bottom of the league (position 17 and 18), and automatically promotes the two leaders from NFD inland + Coastal stream (this would be Cosmos and and Bay United in this case).
3 - Two PSL teams in position 15 and 16 goes for play-off with the two runners-up in the NFD stream.

This will make both PSL and NFD competitive.

For the following two reasons, I will not accept the PSL excuse that 18 teams will cause a delay towards the end of the season:

1 - SAFA has now cancelled a One-Day Telkom Charity Spectacular. Now there is more space for PSL matches.
2- Local soccer supporters were bored in the last 4 weeks waiting for about 10-days for their favourate teams to play
