Egypt beat Mali at Africa Youth Championship

Egypt beat Mali 1-0 to win the third place playoff at the African Youth Championships in South Africa on Sunday.

Mohamed Hamdy Zaky got the only goal of the match for the North Africans with his classic finish that was too much for the Malian goalkeeper to clear. Hamdy’s low but powerful drive saw the ball land at the far right bottom corner of the goal to earn bronze for the Egyptians three minutes after the interval.   Most of the excitement in the game happened in the second half.   The Malians were highly tipped to carry the day having topped Group A with the North Africans coming second. During their group encounter the physically strong Malians beat the Egyptians 1-0.   The final match is between Nigeria and Cameroon at the Dobsonville Stadium.
