Ghana just about kept their World Youth Championships hopes alive with a come-from-behind draw against Gambia in a dramatic game at the Dobsonville Stadium.
The Black Satellites, defending African and world champions, now have one point from their first two games and must now win their final Group B game while hoping Nigeria don't win on Sunday.
Cameroon, meanwhile, are through to the semifinals on account of their 1-0 win over Nigeria earlier in the day and Ghana coach Orlando Wellington will be wondering how his side did not get all three points too.
Gambia took a first half lead through Jammeh Baboucar before he was showed a red card for a two-footed lunge on Richmond Nketia that ended the midfielder's participation in the game.
Wellington had made two changes to the side that lost to Nigeria but it seemed to weaken rather than strengthen the team.
It wasn't until midway through the second half when he brought on James Bissu did they play well.
Richard Boakye headed the equalizer for Ghana late on before he smacked another header against the crossbar as Ghana streamed forward in search of the equalizer.
Later, it was the turn of Mahatma Otoo to scrape the scores bar after a beautiful set up by Boakye.
That made it three efforts against the bar after substitute Seidu Zida had powered another header against the bar.
Ghana must now win the final game at all cost against Cameroon to ensure their title hopes and World Cup ambitions don't fizzle out.
