Daniel Uchechi scored a penalty at one end, and Dele Ajiboye saved at the other as Nigeria's Under 23 team were held to a 1-1 draw by Liberia on Saturday night in Monrovia.
Fired up by the ill-treatment from the Liberia FA, the Nigeria team took the game to their hosts and were rewarded when Uchechi was hauled down in the area on the half hour mark.
The Leicester man picked himself up to convert the resultant spotkick.
But that lead lasted only another half hour, as Johnson Samuel drew level for the hosts.
Liberia had a chance to win the game with 15 minutes left when Edet Ibo mistimed a tackle in the box, but the resultant penalty was saved by Ajiboye. The goalkeeper was taken off injured in stoppage time but the Nigerians held on for the draw.
