Sunderland could be heading to Kumasi for a friendly against Asante Kotoko after the two clubs held fruitful talks on Friday.

Kotoko board chairman KK Sarpong, international relations officer Kwame Baah Nuako and Uefa licensed match agent Justin Addo met Sunderland chairman Naill Quinn about possible corporation between the two clubs.

Quinn said afterwards the meeting with the Kotoko officials had gone really well. He said: "It was a huge honour to welcome the Kotoko officials to our club. There's a tremendous passion for football in Ghana and I see a real synergy with Sunderland in that respect.

"We could see that from watching Tuesday's friendly against England and of course the international sides' fantastic performance at the World Cup just what football means to the people of Ghana - there's an infectious enthusiasm about them that's wonderful to witness.

"We had an incredibly positive meeting with the chairman and senior officials and I feel privileged that they can see how their future development can be helped by what they can learn through us."

KickOffGhana.com understands part of the collaboration could see Sunderland play Kotoko as part of their pr-season warm up games this summer.

WE HOPPING THIS IS TRUE. THIS NOT THE FIRST TIME OF HEARING SUCH NEWS IN GHANA

As an advert for football in Ghana, the match against England could hardly have been better. The spirit in which it was played was hard but fair the enthusiasm from the Ghana lads for an attacking game rubbed off and became infectious, producing one of the best games from a spectator's point of view for years. The British people contrary to popular opinion not only love to laugh but will find humour, despite political correctness, in almost any situation; it was and is the strength of the countries making up the British Isles. The sight of the joyous enthusiasm from over 22,000 supporters from Ghana who smiled laughed and partied through the whole match brought a wonderful warmth to the sport which few other visiting nations adopt.

For a Sunderland supporter of 60 years to see three of our team playing for Ghana and one for England was a rare treat. A link between our club and the professional footballers of Ghana can only bode well for all concerned

We hope this is going to be true.
