Masibusane Zongo finished at Vasco Da Gama

Posted: 1 April 2011 Time: 14:50

Vasco Da Gama team manager Kenny Gertse tells KickOff.com there is no future for Masibusane Zongo with the club.

Zongo has been Awol from the Cape Town club since February 20 after he was called up to the U23 side to play Angola and informed Vasco he wanted to stay over in Johannesburg for two more days after the match, a request which Vasco turned down. Zongo, who was not paid for March for absconding from work, was supposed to meet Vasco this week with his representatives for the first time after over a month, but Gertse reveals Zongo's representatives didn't contact him as agreed upon last week.   Gertse admits Zongo's days at Vasco are numbered.   "He (Ashley Kotzin – Zongo's agent) called me last week to make arrangements to meet this week and I told him I will make the time that suits him. I haven't heard anything from him yet and it is Friday today and I'm at the airport on my way to our match against Platinum Stars. I expected the meeting to be this week, but it can't happen anymore because I'm away," he says.   Gertse continues: "I will give him (Kotzin) a call on Monday to check when he can come. But Zongo is gone! We just have to make it official. I could fire him after seven days of being Awol and now it's been more than a month," says Gertse.   Zongo is on a one-year loan from SuperSport United and Gertse says Vasco have spoken to the Pretoria club about Zongo.   "I have spoken to Jose Ferreira and he said we must do what we have to do, which is line with our disciplinary code so we can do things the right way… We will hear his side of the story, but as I said he is gone, it is just not official yet," he adds.   It is believed Zongo signed three to four warning letters since arriving at the club at the beginning of the season, which includes for turning up at training allegedly drunk.   Kotzin was unavailable for comment as his phone rang unanswered, so we were not able to get Zongo's side of the story as to why he and his representatives failed to meet Vasco this week.

Another talent going to waste, the difference between Zongo and Nkambule is that the latter was never given any chance, despite his committment to the cause while Zongo had tons of chances but he blew them, i remember when Klate was injured while still at SS United, Zongo was afforded a lifetime chance to cement his place in the starting line-up, play-wise, he was a marvel to watch but his off the field antics made more headlines, now Nkambule is one, super-talented youngster that has always been crying for a chance, but VV had his own thoughts!!!!! I've always maintained that Nkambule, together with Zongo and Serero are but 3 of the most talented youngsters in the country, the best we've produced over the last 5 yrs, okay, throw another wayward youngter in there, am talking about Bongani Thwala, what a player!!!!!!!!!!

YOUNG GIFTED AND SLACK!!!! There goes another one. I've seen this boy play and if he kept his head it was just a matter of time before he went all the way. No excuses boy you're stupid. Kids want to be soccer stars rather than professional soccer players. BIG DIFFERENCE!! Anyway, don't worry, there's heaps mpre talent in this country and life will go on for everybody. Good luck to you in whatever you are doing next cos despite all your talent, soccer is not for you Zongo. Shem!!
