Bloemfontein Celtic looked unstoppable as they trounced SuperSport United 5-0 in an Absa Premiership match at the Seisa Ramabodu Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The main threat in attack came from Luyanda Bacela, who scored a hat-trick on the day. The Celtic man was simply superb and seemed to pop up at the right time every time.
The win also means Celtic have now extended their unbeaten run in the League to 12 matches and are still the only team in the league who are undefeated at home.
The home side were on the attack from the first whistle and almost scored in the fifth minute when Bacela came within inches of giving his side the lead after he saw his 12-yard shot skim the wrong side of the upright.
Celtic only had to wait another three minutes before they did find the back of the net. Mulomowandau Matoho rounded off a good passing movement with a clinical finish from about ten yards out.
Celtic then only had to wait till the 25th minute to find their second goal when Danny Venter let fly with a powerful 25-yard shot which found the top left hand corner of the net.
In the 34th minute SuperSport saw themselves reduced to 10 men after Shane Poggenpoel was dismissed for a professional foul on Thokozani Mshengu.
Luyanda Bacela underlined Celtic’s dominance when he scored their third goal in the 39th minute. Again it was a good passing movement which led to Bacela finding space inside the box before driving a well placed shot home.
Things didn’t get any easier for SuperSport in the second half and Celtic really made their one man advantage count as they passed the ball around nicely and always seemed to find players in space.
The 73rd minute saw Bacela found his side’s fourth goal after he rounded off another impressive passing movement with a well placed finish from just inside the box.
The cherry on the cake for Celtic came in the 84th minute when Bacela found his side’s fifth goal in the game and his third. Bacela was clinical from 12 yards out when he drove the ball past a stranded Rowen Fernandez.
