Tau: Derby is no title decider

Kaizer Chiefs skipper Jimmy Tau says the Derby is not League decider

Posted: 23 February 2011 Time: 10:59 am

Kaizer Chiefs skipper Jimmy Tau says he disagrees with perceptions that the Soweto Derby on Saturday is the League title decider for this season.

Orlando Pirates are on 45 points, while Chiefs are two points off the pace ahead of Amakhosi's clash against the Buccaneers at the FNB Stadium.   Tau says: "No, no, no, I beg to differ. We don't want to be derailed by the misconception that if we win on Saturday the League is over. There is still eight games to play after the Derby and the Cup games in between will cause some disruption in terms of your rhythm.

_quote   "It is not really that one game is going to decide the League," he argues.   The former Orlando Pirates defender also deviates from playing down his former team's chances, despite Bucs' injury and suspension worries.   "We have won against them in the past two games and it augurs well for our team in terms of confidence going into the game. But it doesn't make the task easier. We know Pirates are a good team and we respect them for that.   "I expect a tough match, because there is a lot of history attached to it, but most importantly for us is that we are title contenders and two points behind Pirates so there are lots of expectations from the supporters. It makes for an interesting challenge," Tau adds.

I think this reporters sometimes they mislead people. They concentrate more on Chiefs winning two as if Pirates has never won agaist them.We beat them too in the MTN8 too.Because they wanna rubbish Pirates they only mentioning Chiefs winning agaist Pirates in the Leaque and Telkom.Shame!!!!It is true when they say if newspaper want you to look bad they will do so unchalleged because they are the one who write and we have to read what they right.Unfortunately to Bucs fans we don't care.We know our know our story.

TTM buddy, you are short-changing your readers. I listened to Tau's live recording of this pre-match briefing on radio & it seems you've edited the fact that he said, I quote. "They(Pirates)are there for the taking."

This comment was somewhat of a complacent remark from The KC captain before such a big game. Why exclude it? It only makes for good reading don't you think?

Point of correction Bra Pirates did beat Chiefs 1-0 with that lucky rebound of Mashego's boot but Chiefs had won the first leg 2-1. I think the reason the reporters are not at all bothered by those two games is because actually the final score was a draw hence the away goal rule decision.

The league will be decide at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe stadium on the last day of the league when Chiefs lock horns with Sundowns, unless Chiefs will be 4 points clear at the top, they will not win the league as they will lose on that day and whoever is closest will take it!

I am sure you did maths at school- you also did statistics and history, I assume: then which is more significant between a 1-0 that seemed like a fluke in the semi-final, winning the final on penalties against a relegation bound team and whipping your asses 6-1 in 3 hrs? Don't answer!

Captain my captain, while your peer in the other side is waiting for the chairman to tell him when to go to toilet, we are definately going to take 3 points and march to championship.
