Habas: Yes, I have left

Antonio Lopez Habas has left Mamelodi Sundowns

Posted: 5 February 2011 Time: 1:00 pm

Antonio Lopez Habas tells KickOff.com he has indeed left Mamelodi Sundowns after a week of unrest at the club.

Matters came to a head recently when the club's supporters called for Habas' head after a string of poor results, which saw Sundowns relinquish their position at the top of the PSL's standings.

"I have decided to resign, but I'm still here in South Africa," Habas says.

While the club's boss Patrice Motsepe is currently in Chloorkop talking to the supporters about the matter Habas has vowed not to set foot at the club's headquarters bearing in mind the circumstances under which he left the team. The Spaniard admits he was left with no option but to leave as the pressure from the supporters to leave was too much to bear.

In the end Habas says the "safety of my family" is very important to him and hence he decided to quit despite the fact that he admits he was still enjoying being at the helm of the club's coaching reigns.

However, Habas has not officially cancelled the contract yet and expect the matter to be finalised on Monday.

"I still didn't cancel the contract," he adds via SMS. "I don't wanna talk about it even that (before cancelling the contract)".

Keep firing coaches and celebrate signing expensive useless players while Amakhozi celebrate trophies with their cheap labour.

Thabang u r right, Sunflops needs a couch not a coach... hahahahahahaaaa lol

I beg to differ Obakeng and Leeuw, this guy was supposed to remain a fitness trainer and continue the good rapport he had with players instead of backstabbing Stoichkov, because clearly that's what he did judging by the results.

Look guys....it's like devorce, it's not ideal but necessary at times where irreconcileble differences arise.

Habus, do'nt look back please. Phew!

THis is a classic case of Chickens coming home to roost, this is the same man that betrayed his long time "Friend" Hristo Stoichkov, the latter must be smiling wherever he is right now, rightfully so, this clueless Banana (Habas) together with some short-sighted Sundowns players, conspired to get rid of Hristo now look what happened to him, i don't feel sorry for him, not at all!!!!!!!

Other favourites include: brace-'drace', hat-trick, hand-drick, Khosi-Khozi, brilliance-'brilliancy' lol! Doctor loves that one. hl,hl,hl!

Dankie! LSG, Hristo was a perfectionist, who demanded the best or nothing from everyone around him and bo-Makhanya were intimidated by his approach and pushed him out in favour of someone they could control.

Even on the pitch it was evident, the tempo with which we approached games was always positive, throw ins were taken quickly before the opponents regrouped, but nowadays we wait for Booth for 5mins to run to the box to waste it by pushing people, causing fouls against us. Nx!

Booth must fokoff too!

@roger that....a resignation is not the same as a dismissal, and the latter was not the case but the former in this instance.

You can follow Habus my outie, vele I'm expecting 1 in10 atleast to see the 'light', that's why you'll never see a thousand Quantams to watch a Downs game, but Z4's, Slk's and Scirrocco's in abundance. mh, mh.

Okay nama bus ayi 2 ke! for the few like you (roger that) who supported Downs for zonal and tribal affillations. lol.

Next on line is Krol,I applaud the Downs supporters for this pressure! What the use of having this European coaches if they don't add any value to our teams,we have some fantastic coaches who are far better than this coaches and who understand our players better!
So big ups to you Masandawana!
I still insist that Krol must go & Graig Rosslee must takeover!
I can't be fooled by lucky wins of recent times!

@robby, my sentiments about roger that, apply to you as wel, no one was fired, he just dug his own grave without ...mh asking grave diggers like abo All Psl underTakers nabo Franc'ina Excavators for assistance. hl, hl.

Let him go now because there's two more trophies to salvage our already battered pride nothing was gonna change, we were clearly on a downward spiral gents, this is the best way for both parties involved.

@TotalFootball; Bucs is a team NOT a stokvel. We hv a responsible management who takes care of the team's admin n management. Our job is to support the team. Downs' fans were so irresponsible. Their team is not playing bad at all.
