Matters came to a head recently when the club's supporters called for Habas' head after a string of poor results, which saw Sundowns relinquish their position at the top of the PSL's standings.
"I have decided to resign, but I'm still here in South Africa," Habas says.
While the club's boss Patrice Motsepe is currently in Chloorkop talking to the supporters about the matter Habas has vowed not to set foot at the club's headquarters bearing in mind the circumstances under which he left the team. The Spaniard admits he was left with no option but to leave as the pressure from the supporters to leave was too much to bear.
In the end Habas says the "safety of my family" is very important to him and hence he decided to quit despite the fact that he admits he was still enjoying being at the helm of the club's coaching reigns.
However, Habas has not officially cancelled the contract yet and expect the matter to be finalised on Monday.
"I still didn't cancel the contract," he adds via SMS. "I don't wanna talk about it even that (before cancelling the contract)".
