Kalusha Bwalya slams 'unethical' Safa

Posted: 2011-02-03 15:46

Zambian FA President Kalusha Bwalya has described Safa as ‘unethical’ after hearing Kenya will now play Bafana Bafana on Wednesday – despite having previously arranged a match against ‘Chipolopolo’.

Burkina Faso’s decision to pull out of the scheduled match against Pitso Mosimane’s side in Rustenburg saw Safa announce ‘The Harambee Stars’ as their new opponents on Wednesday night.

But that was news to the legendary Bwalya, who had believed everything was in place for Zambia to play Kenya in Nairobi’s Nyaya Stadium on the same evening.

“There is no way they can do this so soon before the match was going to take place. Everyone knew we were supposed to be playing Kenya, but Safa have pushed us out of the way for their own interests and I don’t think that is ethical,” he tells KickOff.com.

“We have already sent out information to all the players in the squad telling them to report on Sunday for the match. So for Kenya to suddenly pull out boggles the mind.”

At a press conference on Thursday to announce the Bafana squad for the match, Safa president Kirsten Nematandani was at pains to point out that he was unaware of Zambia’s arrangement.

“Relationships (with other national associations) are important but we needed a game,” he stated. “We didn’t know that Kenya already had something arranged and we wouldn’t just go out and snatch an opponent from another country.”

But Bwalya was fuming in response to those comments. “That is exactly what they have done,” he says.

“If Safa have negotiated with Kenya at our expense then I don’t think they care about our relationship at all. It’s very sad because I always thought they valued our support.”

Who is fooling who. Is SAFA playing games with us or what is going mare. I give up about SAFA as they are all over like headless checkens (Tlou Segola is a good example).

Senganga: 2011-02-03 16:07

Money talks!! Sorry broer we really need a game.
Kirsten Nematandani is a cow.

Dooba OPC: 2011-02-03 16:10

My grey matter tells me that Safa bribed Kenya with the billions they received from Fifa- the money was so large it could sustain the Kenyan FA for the next three to 5 years. And young innocent FA like Zambia have to be victims of Safa incompetence...

skye: 2011-02-03 16:10

why would we want to play Zambia, all their players trade their career just here in Johannesburg
they are full in Johannesburg, rustenburg, Limpopo, Cap town and other big metropolitan cities. they want to over crown us @ the stadia
look bulaswa or whatever your name is
organise ti play Egypt, they are sh===t juts like your federation

Dooba OPC: 2011-02-03 16:14

Nemathandani is exposed- maybe Sedibe walked out of Safa with his plans and told them to make their own, while the new acting was still in wonderland.

Swona Champ!: 2011-02-03 16:15

Christine/kiirstine, hope you know what you just did to the relatioships that Danny and Irvine built over the years!

Senganga

Irvine/Danny/Kaizer/Jomo has a lot of money, but they do not have a heart as bad as this one, and I know this guys value Kalusha's friendship than this! dont ask me how do I know!

jubs: 2011-02-03 16:16

its not our fault that you dont afford to invite Kenya coz they are the ones who had to make descition at the end, that means they did not wanna play against you "Who wanna play in Zambia anyway"

Ganja Farmer: 2011-02-03 16:17

This Nematandani is just the Shangaan version of Molefi Oliphant, so much for change!

Legend : 2011-02-03 16:17

Dats SAFA 4 u im sho dey enticed Kenya with money n who doesnt want money if u r poor, im saying dis bcos SAFA 1st went 2 Libya bt dey we rejected then dey went 2 Kenya who demselves r 2 blame 4 dropin Zambia bcos of money.

Wonder: 2011-02-03 16:19

Kirsten Nematandani, pleas eleave SAFA alone, why are you doing this to us and our neighbours? you have failed, finish and klaar. Tivano was right about you, i blame myself for not listening to him and putting my hopes on your administration, sies man!

Zed: 2011-02-03 16:20

This is very unethical by SAFA, especially taking into account the relationship between the two countries, Zambia and South Africa. SAFA knew about the planned friendly between Zambia and Kenya, it was all over the media and was listed on the FIFA fixtures. So for Nematandani to say they didn't know is bull**** and is meant to disguise SAFA's incompetencies and ineffiencies.

SABELO : 2011-02-03 16:21

Read the article again Dawana and stop protecting that nonsense called Nematandani, and btw, the guy is Venda not Shangaan!

Ck: 2011-02-03 16:23

nonsense blame Kenya not Safa you moegoe. If Kalusha had a concrete agreement with Kenya enforce it and not cry on us. And SA moegoes are always quick to blame our own. When Burkino Fuso dumped us we were cool about it and our Safa go out and competetively gets us a game you blame them. Shame on you zinja!!!

Mesh - K 4 L: 2011-02-03 16:31

Why is Kalusha not blaming kenya?

If your girlfriend Dumps for for your friend it means there is something wrong about you not her.Is these a case of a dog barking at the wrong tree?Maybe i don understand the article.

I have realised most bloggers seem to blame everything Kirsten does just because he is a VENDA(judging by some response earlier)

Some of you here are talking NONSENSE.PLEASE LEAVE MR NEMATANDANI ALONE.THE MAN HAS DONE NOTHING WRONG. Kalusha Bwalya is also talking nonsense. Why does he blame SAFA and not the Kenyan FA ? Is he perhaps implying that SAFA are more matured than the Kenyans and should know better. ? It's like blaming an older man for sleeping with a 16 year old girl who can't think for himself. Mr Nematandani's duty is to ensure that Bafana Bafana play a friendly in preparation for their match against Egypt. What did you expect him to do when BF withdrew at the last minute ? Did you expect him to play Mickey Mouse teams like Lesotho nor Swaziland to prepare for such an important match ?

Tzozo: 2011-02-03 17:37

And those of you who think there are “ethics” in soccer are talking KAK. Are the teams that you support ethical ? How many times has your favourite team breached the “ethics” code to sign players ? Do you ever complain ? Now stop talking s*hit about Mr Nematandani. Kalusha must also shut up as well.

Tzozo: 2011-02-03 18:19

It is disgusting to see that tribalism is still so strong in Mzansi. I don't ever recall people blaming the many blunders committed by Molefi Oliphant on his being a Lejapere. Now all of a sudden Nematandani's takes decisions (correct decisions for that matter) and his ethnicity becomes an issue. No wonder white people will never respect us darkies. I don't blame them.

Ck: 2011-02-03 18:21

Tzozo

Spot on there. Do you remeber during our world cup preparations how teams use to dump Bafana fixtures on the last minute? Our SAFA pulled last minute plan B oppositions without making noise like Kalushwa and these fools who are always anti SA.

Nipsy: 2011-02-03 18:30

Nice move Nematandani, who wants to play Zambia? you saved Kenya man. Big up...

tk.: 2011-02-03 18:40

what a palooka of a footbal federation we have. to think we r fighting over a one kenya? we should b fighting to play Egypt, Cameroon, Ghana or the likes of Egypt. i kenya pho. me wont b suprised if next time we fight with Lesotho to play against Somalia. fools!

Zed: 2011-02-03 18:47

It seems some bloggers here do not understand how international soccer is managed, in the process, you are displaying your ignorance so openly which is very sad.All you know is football in RSA and you use that to fomr the basi of your argument. Football is not like your girlfriend and you can't even begin to compare the two. FA's are supposed to honour contracts signed and held by other parties, thats just what happened. Thats why Kalusha is saying SAFA as unethical. Some of you might remember, why do you think Chelsea was banned from signing on new players one or two seasons ago, its because they approached a player owned by another club, no one said, "blame the player because he knew he already had a contarct with another club". Its basics that really shouldnt be dificult to understand.

Zed: 2011-02-03 19:06

In a nutshell, SAFA has knowingly violated the critical FIFA fairplay principles which should dictate that all FA'S respect each other in their dealings. This is why SAFA has been termed as being unethical.

Ant: 2011-02-03 19:41

COMMUNICATION??? how can there be so many 'misunderstandings'? Or are we just being lied to. This boggles the mind, and leaves us playing opponents over 70 positions below us. May as well get Bafana to play an Mvela select XI and save some money.

Tzozo : 2011-02-03 19:50

Zed stop talking KAk.the question is y is Kalusha only blaming SAFA ? Is it becos he has a low regard for the KFA ? Is it becos he expects SAFA 2 know better n nothing from the other party ?

Jane Furse : 2011-02-03 21:37

Anthony u are correct,in fact i have a better suggestion lets take our under 23 and let them have a practice match with Platinum Stars reserves. Isnt it that we are building. As for SUFFER they should all resign, they are very incompetent.

Totalfootball : 2011-02-03 22:26

Its footballfools transgressors forum at work, they so pathetic!they don't deserve to be there.they messing everything at stake.they fail to get Burkina Faso & just when they realise that they where at a mess with the nation, now they rush under other associations nose with poor Zambia being the victims!
Nematendani & Nonkonyane must go before they take our football to the dogs!

 : 2011-02-04 06:13

Ffgh

Sandile Ngcobo : 2011-02-04 07:24

Those are the sad dynamics of African football which is trying hard to re-organise themselves like Uefa. The trickle down effect is that the more powerful nations will feed of the smaller less powerful nations to be stronger. I feel sorry for nations like Zambia, Ghana, Kenya. Who are always competitive but will always fall by ways side when commercially driven has beens or former power houses (Cameroon, Nigeria, SA, etc) roll into town.

Observant: 2011-02-04 13:54

Why is Kalusha blaming SAFA? Shouldn't he take this up with the Kenya's FA? I mean Burkina Faso pulled out of our match a week before and SAFA dind't blame anyone, they made last minute arrangements. He should do the same.

Afterall, it all comes with the pecks, if you cannot perform under pressure, maybe the position isn't for you then.
