Vasco edge past Arrows

Vasco da Gama claimed a first win in seven as they defeated Lamontville Golden Arrows 1-0 in their Absa Premiership clash played at the Cape Town Stadium on Friday night.
Abafana Bes'thende can count themselves unlucky after dominating large parts of the game, but a goal just after halftime from Mokete Tsotetsi was enough to seal the points for the home side.
Norikazu Murakami received a fortunate rebound from a defensive error and found himself with a shooting chance, but his effort was wild and failed to trouble the Vasco goal, while soon afterwards Mbesuma glanced his header wide.
Golden Arrows were desperately unlucky not to be in front just before the break when Murakami's ball was brilliantly laid off by Mbesuma, and Sithole's quick feet on the edge of the area created space for the shot, but his effort rebounded off the inside of the post and away to safety.
Vasco had a great opportunity to take the lead 10 minutes into the second period when Aiden Jenniker's ball into the box from a short corner was met by Adams ahead of Khuzwayo, but he put his header wide.
The goal came for the home side just minutes later though as Kamwendo's cross was met by centre-back Tsotetsi and he was left with the simplest of headed finishes.
Mbesuma again showed his class with a great turn that created a scoring opportunity, but Posnett Omony in the home goal parried his point-blank effort into the air, and the Vasco defence cleared the danger.
Arrows will wonder how they weren't level with 14 minutes to play as Mbesuma created the space again but his shot was blocked, while Sithole had a follow-up that was parried by Omony seemingly into the path of the former, but a Vasco defender appeared from nowhere to clear the danger.
