Uganda’s national team coach has called up five South African-based players for their international friendly against Libya next month.

Last week, following Cranes’ coach Laszlo Csaba’s insistence, the technical committee was forced to invite South Africa-based goalie Postnet Omwony.

Other Absa Premiership players include foreign-based players invited include Timothy Batabaire (Bloemfontein Celtic), Dennis Onyango (Supersport,), Geoffrey Massa (Jomo Cosmos), Nestroy Kizito and David Obua (Kaizer Chiefs).

Fufa has also invited two more foreign-based players, Moses Jjunju (United Kingdom) and Joseph Kanyike (Netherlands) to join the Cranes squad on March 17.

This was disclosed by the Federation’s secretary in the competitions committee office Moses Magogo.

The two strikers feature for Division One sides, Ilford in UK and WMC FC in Netherlands, respectively.

“This being a build-up match we have decided to use all the players we have abroad so that when time comes for real competition, we know who to invite,” Magogo said.
Cranes will start non-residential training on March 17 before entering camp five days later.

Other foreign-based players invited include Ethiopia based Hassan Bajope (St George), Andy Mwesigwa (IBV, Iceland), Abubaker Tabula (Sundsvall, Sweden), Ibrahim Ssekajja (Red Bulls, Australia), Timothy Batabaire (Bloemfontein Celtic, South Africa), Dennis Onyango (SuperSport, South Africa), Geoffrey Massa (Jomo Cosmos, South Africa), Nestroy Kizito (Vjojvodina, Serbia) and David Obua (Kaizer Chiefs, South Africa) and Eugene Ssepuya (Serbia).

Cranes will also play away to Mozambique on May 21 in the second build up before 2010 World/Africa Cup qualifiers against Niger on May 31 at Namboole.
