The move is to enable Mabena to get game time after failing to break into the Ea Lla Koto starting line up since arriving in June. Free State have relied heavily on their inspirational Zambian keeper Kennedy Mweene since returning to the PSL four years ago, meaning any goalkeeper arriving at the club has to be content with being merely in a cover up position. "We have brought in Gregory Mabena from Free State Stars and we hope he will make a difference in our team even though he wasn't playing at Stars. He is going to be with us for the remainder of our First Division campaign after which he will return to Stars," confirms Carara assistant coach Sello ‘Jomo' Ntuli. Mabena, a Chiefs junior's graduate, spent the last two seasons with the Amakhosi first team but never managed to get any game time. Carara have just recently also snapped up Lindokuhle Mkhwananzi and Saitjheni Tsotetsi to beef their squad in the hope of reaching the promotional play-offs.
