Kaizer Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona has paid tribute to the multitude of the team's supporters.
'Smiling Assassin' tells KickOff.com Chiefs couldn't have won the Telkom Knockout without the "three quarters" of Chiefs fans of approximately 91 000 that filled the FNB stadium on Saturday as Chiefs ran amok against nemesis Orlando Pirates, winning the match 3-0.
"I thank our supporters for all they did because without them we couldn't have been so successful "
- Knowledge Musona
"I have never played in front of a big crowd like that. I heard it was a record crowd and I enjoyed it very much," he says.
"I think three quarters of the crowd were ours based on what I saw that day and I had a good experience. The atmosphere was good and I thank our supporters for all they did because without them we couldn't have been so successful," Musona says.
Reflecting on the match, Musona says he disagrees with the theory that Pirates were victims of paying too much attention on him, leaving gaps for Sthembiso Ngcobo, who scored a brace.
"I don't think so I didn't notice that they were coming too much to me. You, the people who were watching, you are the ones who saw that two or three of their defenders were coming to me, but in football if you are a dangerous player the opponents will focus on you.
"I'm not refusing that maybe they focused too much on me I'm just saying that I didn't see it," Musona adds.
