Jabu Mahlangu helps Osters in Swedish Superettan

Posted: 25 October 2010 Time: 21:29

Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Jabu Mahlangu has survived automatic relegation with Swedish Superettan club Osters IF after helping his team to a crucial win over the weekend against fellow strugglers Trollhattan in the last game of the season.

The 2-1 away win for Osters, in which former Kaizer Chiefs trialaist Olivier Karekezi scored, condemned Trollhattan to automatic relegation, sending them down to the third tier of Swedish football.

Osters, however, are not safe yet as they still have to play in the relegation play-offs along with Jonkopings Sodra, who finished 13th – one place above Osters.

In the relegation-promotion play-offs that begin this week, Osters will have to battle with Jonkopings along with lower division runners-up Sirius and Qviding FIF for the two places up for grabs in the Superettan.

Mahlangu’s contract with Osters expires in November after the play-offs.

Meanwhile, the Farouk Khan-coached Stars of Academy has directly exported yet another promising talent to Europe in the form of Bradley ‘Surprise’ Raleni, moving him to Sweden where has won a two-year contract.

‘Surprise’ joined Swedish Superettan side Landskrona earlier this year, but had to prove his worth first in order to be offered a contract extension.

After playing regularly in a season in which he scored seven goals as a supporting striker, Raleni has now convinced Swedish legend Henrik Larsson – who is the coach at the club – that he is worthy of being kept.

Landskrona finished the season in fifth position, with the 23 year-old playing an influential role.

Nadime Mohammed – an official from Stars of Africa who also deals with player representation – sounded excited about the contract extension that Raleni has been offered.

“This goes to show the kind of work that is being done at the academy where we are able to export players straight to Europe before they have even played in the PSL here at home,” says Mohammed.

No matter what they say, u are still Mzansi's export Javas Regal.

Keep on flying the flag high Ntwana Mshavulana, u are doing it for your kids now, not fame, girls, alcohol and cars. This is your last chance Ngwana wathwenya, to stand up like a real man and fight for your children.

May God bless you, history is in the past and i will never judge based on history neither will God. Good luck Jabu Pule.

Kickoff we need real news not this surplus-gabbage-article, Jabu Pule-Mahlangu is playing for a second division (Mwela League) team that almost got relegated to the 3rd (Vodacom). What's the story in that? I have noticed that you hardly cover news from our Mvela but you have guts to cross the seas to get this rubbish story. Charity beggins at home.

Mgugudi Wegolo: Javas Regal is one of us mfana, he still have followers who are so keen to read about him.

Your Captain Aron Mokoean also plays n the 2nd division but the is coverage all ove the media not KO only. Javas Regal saved hs team and we would like to hear about such possitive stories.

Vision my vision Asprila i agree, he is one of the best if not the only best to have graced our diski. Shuffle the 6 pack.

I used to watch at school(Hulwazi) when they played Thabiso Malatsi(Mabuya) school. Even the messi's, Ronaldo's of this world could not do what Pule used to do with the ball.

I agree with you KING , you will never see Messi and Ronaldo mixing BLACK LABEL/Ngudu with the ball.

They're(Messi & Ronaldo) very talented players and would definitely do much better OR 10 times better than Jabu Pule-Mahlangu with the ball.

Jabu Pule-Mahlangu is in the same category with Skappie Malatsi,Jurnior Khanye,The late Scara Ngobese,Sipho Nunez,Masibusane Zongo....very talented but just bunch of useless players off the field, who could be consistent for on the field ....to maximum of 5 games without negative issues.

Gucci Man: dont be judgemental mfana, learn to encourage than to criticise. You will make this world a better place.

I dont care how many times a person makes mistakes, i will keep on encouraging them to do better and become better.

Javas Regal has 3 kids and he supports them very well, which most of the guys dont do. This guy left school early and grew up very poor, but looking at where he has been and where he is now, he deserve our support.

We dont see a Jabu Pule anymore, We seea father of 3 kids and a dad.

my opinion: on a good day, or while he was still Jabu Pule, he was better than all players of his age group (and most senior players) in the PSL. I still mourn his departure from Amakhosi and the PSL. It will take us a while to see a player of his class again.

Guys, no meta what u can say about Pule,we can neva have another shuffle in SA history.same as Dr Khumalo,Nomvete,McWilliam & Benni. These guys had their unique assets on their feet & sense, whch no 1 else has proven to have. Also, if u have played football & know it i.e.be able to coach any amiture club,u wont be sticking much about things that happen off the field, coz media wants to make $ too.look at Rooney 4 instance.Leave Pule alone..& i agree with King
