National Under-20 coach Orlando Wellington has quit as coach of Kpandu Heart of Lions after a fall out with the club's management.
Wellington had been given an ultimatum by Lions officials to choose between the Black Satellites and the Volta-based club and even though that threat was subsequently withdrawn, a breakdown in relationship has led to a partying of ways. Now Wellington says he has decided to quit the club because they have not showed him enough respect over negotiations for a new contract. "I can say that I've stopped as the head coach of the club because they've not shown me enough respect," he said. "They refused to append their signature to a contract they gave me after I've signed my part and so it tells you that if they wanted you to continue they wouldn't have behaved the way they are doing. Wellington also took some parting shots at officials of the club. "I've no problem with owner Victor Ahiakpor but the people around him are making things difficult for anyone to work at the club. If I go back, am sure some of the people will undermine me and my work and that's what I don't want to expose myself to."
