Taye Taiwo gets Nigeria recall, Danny Shittu dropped

Posted: 23 September 2010 Time: 21:08

Taye Taiwo has been recalled to the Nigeria squad for next month's 2012 African Nations Cup qualifier against Guinea in Conakry.

Also recalled are Yusuf Ayila, Obinna Nsofor and Dele Adeleye as Austin Eguavoen named 30 players for what is expected to be his last game in charge.

There is also a first time call-up for former Spain junior international Sunday Stephen.

But there was still no place in the squad for Everton forward Yakubu Ayegbeni, while defender Danny Shittu has also been left out as he seeks to rebuild his career after being released by Bolton Wanderers.

The squad is a 50-50 split between domestic and foreign players.

The domestic players have been asked to report on September 26, and will be joined by their Europe-based counterparts a week later on October 4

Eagles full squad for Guinea clash on October 10 in Conakry:

What is Sunny Stephen doing in that list?i mean dude barely sees action at valencia and he's struggling to get a club.he even tried out during the summer with blackpool but failed to win a contract.
Another thing, has he made up his mind to play for nigeria and did Eguavoen contact him before naming him in his squad?? lets not witness another NEDUM ONUOHA.

Dont be carried away by the fact that the domestic and forieng players make the team. The fact remains that the decision of who plays and who does not is still made by some ignorant and gready officials who seat behind a desk... not the couch... NOW U UNDERSTAND ONE REASON WHY THEY WANT TO SURPLANT SIASIA..

@Mallam, you are the biggest fool in the World. Jos is considered Middle Belt in Nigeria like Benue State not NORTH!!! Enaramo's Parents are Igbos Mikels Parents are Igbo.Mikel and Enaramo speak fluent Igbo. They also claim to be Igbo not Abokis. Amokachi's parents are from the East as well. Ahmed Musa is from Jos North Local Government, Which is considered Middle Belt. People only move up North to do business and rip off Northerners because u guys are unintelligent, lazy and lack innovation. 42 years out of 50 years with u Northerners in power and Naija is still in a mess. Bloody Almajiris GET YOUR FACTS RIGHTS
The word.

@IKKALU.....you can see the reason why we are not doing well as a country, north, south, east and west we all are one Nigeria and there is no division…what is the need for division, all we need is to win and nothing more than that and Please stop all this rubbish because it is not going to help us. if you want to talk politics here, let me teach you something, do you know that what we have in Nigeria is three main ethnic group (Igbo Hausa and Yoruba) but the PDP Zoning, the Hausa enjoyed one group and Igbo and Yoruba are merged together as one, what a shame, it shows you that the Hausa does not care about the Igbo, the believe the country belongs to them. Do you know that 98% of Nigeria wealth comes from the east and tell me if assume it comes from the north, what do you think will happen. Let’s stop all this stupid minds and focus on Nigeria as a country and not one ethnic group.

Must there b a northener in d team?? If they r not good enough, they simply shdnt make d team. Players shd b chosen based on merit and not on regional grounds.
