Mid-week matches cancelled for MTN8

Mid-week PSL cancelled for MTN8

Posted: 19 September 2010 Time: 03:32 pm

The Premier Soccer League has cancelled the three mid-week League matches involving all four MTN8 Cup semi-finalists to enable them to prepare.

The Wednesday night games affected are the Soweto Derby between Moroka Swallows and Kaizer Chiefs, that was due to be played at Dobsonville Stadium, and Orlando Pirates vs Mpumalanga Black Aces, which was to be played at Soccer City, as well as SuperSport United vs Ajax Cape Town as Lucas Masterpieces Stadium.

Professor Ronnie Schloss tells KickOff.com that the three matches will be played at a later date, depending on who reaches the Final.

“If the clubs had played in mid-week it would have meant they play three matches in six days, which is not an ideal situation ahead of an important semi-final tie,” Schloss says.

Chiefs will host Pirates on Sunday afternoon at Soccer City in the second leg of their semi-final, that is balanced at 1-1, while Swallows will welcome Ajax to Dobsonville on Saturday.

LeSandawana, my friend I saw a very good display of soccer yesterday nithgt(Sundowns vs Supersport). Unfortunately it was not Sundowns that impressed me but Supersport coach tactics and his astitude. He showed me depth of his coaching ability. He tactically stopped sundowns to play. Sundowns started tryig to play after Zothwane and Kheneyeza came-in, unfortunately for Supersport the two goals spectacular goals that Sundowns scored were both offside. That's me.

Ooh what a games yesterday though i didn't watch it live but a repeat today. I am a Bucs fan but the two teams played extremely well. My problem is comparing the derbies now. No matter the score or whatsoever the Soweto Derby (or must i say the REAL derby) is among the top three of African derbies and among top five in the world. So coming out to say the 'real derby' what were looking at?

I still don't think it was wise rescheduling these games...anyway that's my personal opinion.

for Pirates to defeat they need to train very hard & stop BOOING their players because the more they do the booing the DANGEROUS Chiefs will be...i just forget one suggestion for them if they want to win, they must HIRE Villa,Xavi,Xabi,Forlan,Cassillas,Messi,Higuain,Ronaldo & Tevez if they want to make it to the FINAL...SIZAKUWOPHULA AMATHAMBO ANDIKHATHALINOBA SENZE KANJANI...KHOSI 4 LIFE.

Is all sundowns fans still clueless about soccer or is this only one fool? Please lesendewane, follow soccer not sunclowns only. If the game ended 0-0 there wont be penalties, let me help you on this. You dont have football knowledge like your president. You have disgrace yourself.

The reason for this postponement is nonsense. When is the PSL going to start realizing that once the league starts there is no resting. Yesterday i was watching Chelsea and i understand they are playing the league cup tommorow against N'Castle. No wonder there is this Stupid African soccer where after the game we go drinking, this is one reason I will hardly support Bafana. Come October the 9th, Seira Leone will do the job. WTS.

This is bull-dung! It is only impossible in SA but possible to play 3 matches in 6 days elsewhere... e.g. Chelsea played on Sunday, they are playing today against Newcastle and on Saturday they are playing against Man City.... spoiled South African brats, no wonder they can't beat the Europeans...
