War threatens Swazi Afcon match

The 2012 Afcon qualifier pitting Swaziland and Congo Brazzaville is in limbo after news of outbreak of fresh wars in the host country.
According to recent information gathered, people are dying like flies in the East African country, which is scheduled to host the clash against Sihlangu on the weekend of October 8 - 9.
As a result, there are now concerns on the safety of Sihlangu players ahead of this trip and the National Football Association is in direct communication with CAF on the developments in Congo Brazzaville.
There is now a strong possibility that this game might be shifted to a neutral venue, like it happened in the game between Sihlangu and Togo in the same competition a year ago. This game was shifted to Accra, Ghana, after it was felt that the war situation in Togo was a risk the lives of the travelling players.
"Obviously, we are aware that there are wars in Congo Brazzaville and the safety of Sihlangu players is not guaranteed at this stage. We are in direct communication with Caf and so far, they have not indicated anything regarding that game. As such, we are continuing with our preparations as if nothing is happening until we are told something by CAF," said a Swazi official.
"I must, however, state that we are also concerned with the safety of our players and will not put their lives in danger if the situation does not allow."
Sihlangu have already lost their opening group match in this qualifying rounds after receiving a 0-3 thrashing from the 'Black Stars' of Ghana a week ago at Somhlolo National Stadium.
They now must beat Congo Brazzaville to put their qualifying hopes back on track.
