Heartland go down to Ahly

Posted: 2010-09-13 07:04

Mohammed Zahran scored twice to give Al Ahly a 2-1 win over Heartland and the three points they needed to join JS Kabylie in the semi-final of the CAF Champions League.

Zahran opened the score with a guided header from a free-kick after 20 minutes.

Four minutes after the restart, he lashed one in from just outside the box after the Heartland defence failed to clear their lines.

Emma Nwachi volleyed in Heartland's consolation six minutes later, but they failed to find the goal they needed to take the race to the final day.

With one round of fixtures left, Ahly's 8 points are enough to see them advance to the semi-finals.

The Nigerian side, finalists last year, are due back home on Monday afternoon.

Barcelona 0 - 2 Hacules(Baca Coach was praised after 2 years in Barcalona)

ManU 3 - 3 Everton (Fergusen was praised after 21 years)

Heartland 1 - 2 Al Ahly (Siasia wased booed after two weeks by tribalistic Nigerians)

@Ugonna, you were spot on. Just after a few matches with an already dead heartland, some senseless folks want to cast aspersions on Siasia's coaching ability. Like it or not, Siasia is still remains the best Nigerian coach at the moment. Give him the super eagles and the array of professionals within our disposal and see the wonders he will perform.

@ Ugonna is it not the same way we shouted lagerback out after 3 weeks..the same stick we used to measure lagerback we should use to measure siasia..Afterall siasia had more time to know his players. And who said heartland was already dead?, do dead teams play champions league?. Lest us nigerians stop judging based on sentiments. Siasia is overrated full stop.

@Ugonna, good talk brother. @tituyu, nobody shouted lagerback out after 3 weeks rather it was lagerback who dumped Nigeria. Why don`t we do the wright thing at the wright time? Now the SE will play their next match against Guinea early next month yet the SE have no coach, maybe few days before the match the useless nff will invite their choice of players and appoint any coach as usual for the match, if things went wrong some senseless basket mouths here start condemning the players and coach without reasoning. When are we going to lean from our past mistake? early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy and wise.

Please my dear forumites , lets not condemn Siasia . He took over the team with just 3 weeks to the commencement of champions league. It is a shame that after the flying eagles outstar , he should have learnt not to take up an appointment with short notice . Maybe he does not have friend that advise him. I still believe that he is still the best Nigerian coach that can handle our Super Eagle . He should however listen to NFF and reduce his fee. He is better than Keshi, Eguavon , Amodu , Chukwu etc .

Well I think the latest result achieved by Siasia(crashing out with heartland)point to the fact that 'the people choice' is the most overrated football tactician in nigeria today. Some people are too sentimental on their choice, but when you recalled that this is the same person that led flying eagles to disaster just last year, and his insistance to work with his 'assistant' Simon Kalika is an indication that he is riding on some peoples hardwork only to take the credit later. He deserve NOT to coach eagles.

Nobody shd say siasia met bad team in heartland, bcos if heartland were that bad, they wont get to the CL final last season,if dey r bad they wont play there way to the last 8 of the present CL,the fact remain siasia ****ed up big time with this team,ok accepted he met them 3weeks prio to the CL,n accepted he lost his 1st game, from the 1st game till nw its almost 2mths if am nt mistaken,he shd hav gotten them to play his sgtyle by now.so nobody shd b bias here, let the nff advertise the vacant SE coach and the best shd be appointed.i rest my case.

@Seyi, am not saying that Siasia is not a good coach but my problem is is over rated by people and because of that he will try to impress those that have been rating him high instead of doing the job, at the end he fumbles. In Nigeria, he is the only one that have won us trophy or came second in any competition, we have many others that have achieved more than him. Those u mentioned (Eguavon , Amodu , Chukwu )that have in charge of S.E b4 have taken us to third place, but I assure Siasia may not get there and people like u will want his head. Some said that he took the job three weeks b4 the CAF champion League commenced, but in each match there is always two weeks b4 the next match, so that is not an excuse, this club and not national team, in club they practice almost everyday, so is not an excuse.
@memy7&I, pls u need to stop using abusive language if u do not have anything to say because everyone has his/her opinion.
Thanks

donvyn: 2010-09-13 15:18

Siasia is not better than Eguavon and can't be better. Nigerians/forumites have short memory, when Eguavon took over from chukwu the results are there to show is quality. The fact that we all love siaone may not neccessary makes him the better among others; age grade competition should not be use to classify coaches, we all know the neigeria factors in such competition (CHEATS). Bring ferguson to heartland in one week he would turn it around for better result. Let Eguavon continue as the eagle coach for now.

Eric: 2010-09-13 15:35

Can someone plz tell me the outcome of the match between our Golden Eglets and Congo DR?

philosopher : 2010-09-13 16:32

@Olameleka..Enough of this rubbish you are vomiting out of your mouth, if you dont know anything just shut up; the problem of heartland is beyond Siasia. The management of the club are to be blame for not giving the players their dues, the governor was giving a wrong advice to fire the formwer coach at the the dying minute. Beside that, most of their players ran to Europe to search for news clubs. so blaming Siasia is out of point.

Agbe: 2010-09-13 17:09

@tituyu, are you a Nigerian, and are you working for Lagerback? Majority of us here believe there is a preferential treatment when it come to a coach with white skin, but not you, you think we are racist, and that we don’t like Lars because of his skin color, na you sabi o.
The problem with us in Nigeria is enormous, we are very impatient, some of us lack wisdom, foresight, Intelligent and before I forget an outright bad belle. Because of our religious bible bashing, we think everything is down to miracle, sorry, no miracle here but pure hard work, focus and long time planning.
Read what Taye said about the reason for our failure in the world cup,”Las don’t have enough time to know the players”, so as to conjure out better formations and tactics. Siasia have the same problem with u20 in Egypt and now heartland, for those short-sighted ignorant tribalist who think Siasia is a failure, all you need to do is read what Taye and Apam said about Siasia. Again don’t forget this is not the same team that reach the final last year, they don’t have the suppliers of goals anymore, Okoro and Osanga and the guy who score all the important goals last year is missing(Uche Agba), still you people want miracle, we will never learn, no be curse oh.
For all those short-sighted Nigerian who think the defeat of heartland as giving them the ammunition to open their dirty mouth, do you know how much beaten Alex Ferguson took in the hand of lowly clubs when he first came to Man U from Aberdeen? You don’t know how the soup was cooked, you just want chop.
I bet you guys very soon we will employ a coach under the same circumstance and my people will still expect miracle. Jose Mourinho was given good beaten when he was at Benfica but today he was one of the best, if he was a Nigerian he would have never got the Porto job, where he was able to show the world what he was all about. Guys with little brain, pray for bigger brain so you can see beyond your nose and to realize that everything is not down to miracle.

Buchi: 2010-09-13 17:38

All this problem you guys mentioned about heartland, SE has the same problem too or has NFF changed. all other coaches worked under this same conditions. That means he will have the same result with SE. So no excuse. Had it been he won, it would have raised his cv. Remember some of us here wanted him to replace amodu, that means , this would have been the result too. what Hiddinks did in chelsea is a miracle then.....abeg make I hear word. If amodu is the one that had this result.....

Haertland of Owerri tried their best, but luck was not on their side. That is football, you dont expect to win always. Up SIASIA

tituyu: 2010-09-13 18:58

@Agbe My brother, i be nigerian ooo. the name is osemudiamen omotuemen okojie, from esan central local government in edo state. you mentioned alex ferguson and his early days at manchester united, you are right. his early days were so bad that his time at manchester united came down to one game at nottinham forest where had Man-U lost he would have been sacked. But what you failed to mention is that fergie before then had proved to everybody what he could do at top level football. He is one of the only very few coaches to qualify scotland for the world cup and he also won the european cup with Aberdeen. most of Aberdeen glory days were under feguson. Sia-Sia on the other hand has not been able to convince us of his capabilty at the top.He took our boys to Holland in 2005 and won silver of which you and i know 3/4 of the boys in that team were over aged (and nobody should give me crap of wheather i know them personally. if you see a man you would know). He took us to the olympics (do not forget siasia had started camping since match for the olympics in August, going to verious tournaments and all that. with his man Kalika), with overaged players as well and we came second (in a match we lost to tactical naivity, we hardly troubled argentinas defence). do not also forget that siasia miraculously decided to drop anichebe and ogbuke in that match to play "his boy" promise isaac (who at the time till now has not been able to tie down a starting shirt in his trukish club). Do not also forget the mutiny we had on our hands at the olympics where some players threatend to leave because of the way siasia was handling the team, NFF officials had to sort that out. Egypt 2009 was one WYC where we took the youngest (and talented) team, Siasia gooofed. two months with heartland and he has goofed again. And it is coincidental that the two tournament he has not worked with kalika he has performed under par....in my opinion thats two many coincidences..besides from what i deduce siasia is a very bad man manager, an example is the dirty media battle he fought with mikel obi. of which new reports are showing that the young man arrived camp on the deadline day, albeit late. But he claims he gave siasia a call, of which siasia has not commented on today.....I think a man who has so many shortcoming should be allowed to continue improving his game and develop his career as a coach....He at the moment is too unripe to coach our national team and he is definitely overatted...I still maintain my position that Nigerian coaches are not good enough to handle our national team and should stop waiting on their daily bread from national appointments.....

sly1: 2010-09-13 19:11

Buchi, abeg make I hear word. DONT EVER MENTION THAT INCOMPETENT MORON, AMODU HERE AGAIN. Since he got fired in February, what has he done. Many clubs and countries have hired and fired coaches since then, how come not one single one has come for him? M

sly1: 2010-09-13 19:21

titiyu, if people like Chukwu, Eguavoen and even Amodu can get that job, (Amodu even got it 3 times) I don't see why we can't give Siasia a chance. What are you afraid of?

Agbe: 2010-09-13 21:51

@tituyu, am so glad to read your write-up, it shows you are one of the very few knowledgeable guys here, but you are not objective at all in your conclusions, look at the point you’ve highlighted and weight them objectively without been prejudicial and you will come to a totally different conclusion.
(1) “Sia-Sia on the other hand has not been able to convince us of his capability at the top”
my brother if Olympic final is not a top level, I don’t know what is.
(2) “He took us to the Olympics (do not forget siasia had started camping since match for the Olympics in August”
so ones again my brother, it is very clear you understand the importance of long time camping which did not happen with the U20 team he took to Egypt last year and this heartland team. You know what is right why you don’t want to apply it, long-time camping is the key.
(3) “we hardly troubled Argentines defence).”
Come off it, on top of my head, Promise Isaac had two clear chance to score that day, I think Anichebe had two or three chance as well, if we did not trouble Argentina, how did we get those chances, my brother if not for those untimely water brakes, we would have beaten those dirty Argentinean that day.
(4) “do not also forget that siasia miraculously decided to drop anichebe and ogbuke in that match to play "his boy" promise Isaac”
Ogbuke Obasi was injured, that was why he could not play the final and I know that you knew, because you don’t get all the information you have without looking for them, you just chose to use them when it pleases you.
(5)”Egypt 2009 was one WYC where we took the youngest (and talented) team, Siasia gooofed. Two months with heartland and he has goofed again”
my brother, what happen to time factor which yourself alluded to, as the factor to his earlier. Success.
(6) “And it is coincidental that the two tournament he has not worked with kalika he has performed under par....in my opinion that’s two many coincidences”
tituyu, am sure know about Brian Clough and Peter Taylor, you can see that you have all the information, what is wrong with having a working partner? what did Clough do without Taylor? what did Taylor do without Cloughy? As you can see, you have the tools; still, you came to your conclusions, base on prejudice.
(7) “the young man arrived camp on the deadline day, albeit late.”
I love Mikel but why must he come to the camp late, why can’t he be the first to arrive at the camp? don't forget he mess them about during the African youth champs, do you want Siasia to give him the chance to think he run things?
(8) Mutiny, hahaha, thank God, now we know that if Osaze cannot get his own way, there will be Osaze Mutiny. Tituyu my brother, stay bless, give Siasia a chance, if he fails, don’t forget we still have Oliseh and very soon, we will have the great man himself. (King Kanu).

john: 2010-09-13 23:49

The clear truth is that you can not judge Siasia with the Heartland Game. Anybody can loss game, even Ferguson. He has done things in the past which show us his capability.

Timi: 2010-09-14 01:56

@Ugonna and the rest:
Nigeria 2 - 2 Korea (Lagerback's is being asked to be slaughtered for NIGERIA'S WOE AT THE WORLD CUP)

Rem; this is just after he took over the team just 10 days off the world cup where he already played 3 friendlies and draws. Dem say he no no our players well yet he brought out the best in Kalu uche and we even played with better tactics and understanding than Amodu's era but just for the hard luck of Kaita and the stupidity of Yakubu and the immature Obasi. Eguaveon has taken over same team yet he can't get the tactics and even played worse when he faced same korean team few weeks later. which way NIGERIA???????????????????

gabson : 2010-09-14 02:03

hmm na wa o.

mike: 2010-09-14 17:04

siasia,s performance with heartland is below expectations, gentlemen bear in mind that this same team were the runners up last year. This now defines the law of WHO HAS IT? precisely anyone is capable of handling super eagles despite siasia.

Agbe: 2010-09-15 01:37

@Mike, before you continue your unfunded assertions, am so happy you have access to a computer, so, all you need to do is check the list of last year’s team with this year‘s team, if you do that, you will find out that when a team loses their best players, they need to replace them with equally better players. Okoro gone, King Osanga gone, these are the assist provider in last year team, then the man who score all the important goals which took them to the final, Uche Agba gone, and many more. Now you can make a better and objective opinion base not on what you think but the evidence in front of you. I say no more.
