Josephs – I feel for Teko

Moeneeb Josephs admits it is heartbreaking seeing Teko Modise warm the bench at club and international level.
The dynamic midfielder is expected to start on the bench against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday in the first leg of the MTN8 semi-final at the FNB stadium, after starting on the bench in Bucs' first two League games. However, Josephs says Modise, whose form has dipped since the Fifa Confederations Cup last year after a rise too fast, will eventually bounce back to mesmerize the opposition yet again.
"Of course I feel for Teko, but he has to understand that it is a slump and I know he will get out of it," Josephs tells KickOff.com.
"But this slump will make him better and stronger. I'm sure he will put it behind him eventually and be the Teko everyone knows he can be. I have no doubt he is a great player," says Slim Kat.
Meanwhile, the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper has vowed to keep a clean sheet when Pirates clash against Chiefs.
"I really want to keep a clean sheet in this game and the rest will be up to my teammates," he says.
Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic said yesterday Josephs "won't relax on Saturday" as he prepares to send out his team to attack, but the latter says he will focus on his game and not necessarily to prove a point to the Serbian coach.
"No, there is no point to prove. We have a point to prove to our supporters that we are ready to win something for them this season. We want to win something and we are ready to win something, that's what's important to us. Of course what the Chiefs coach said will be out in the papers, but that's for people to read. My job is in the field. We are hungry to do well for Bucs," says Josephs.
"This is the game that divides the country and it doesn't matter to us that the semi-final is over two legs. What matters to the Pirates players is that we haven't won anything in years and it is time to change things. We want to win both games starting with the one tomorrow.
"We want to beat Kaizer Chiefs… we just want to beat them. We have been saying it is a do-or-die season for us and yes it is do-or-die. We have won nothing over the years, but here is an opportunity," Josephs adds.
