Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Abia Nale concurs with his coach Vladimir Vermezovic that it is time he takes his game to another level.
The Serbian says he has seen enough of Nale creating chances for his teammates, making the good runs and now he feels it is time the former Golden Arrows ace step it up. Nale is unfazed by Vermezovic's challenge vowing to respond the best way he knows how – making an impact in the field.
"Yeah it is time I start scoring goals," Nale says ahead of the first leg of the MTN8 semifinal on Saturday against Amakhosi's bitter rivals, Orlando Pirates. "I heard the coach when he spoke about me that I must start scoring goals and I agree with him that it is time I start doing that," Nale says.
The 23-year-old, who's been partnering Knowledge Musona upfront playing as a second striker, says he's learnt a great deal from the young Zimbabwean.
"I have learned to be composed when I'm facing the goalposts like Knowledge, that's what I have learnt from him," he says.
Meanwhile, Nale, a Pirates development product, says he feels no pressure ahead of the Soweto Derby.
"It is like a cup final playing against Pirates, but there is no pressure. Even the first time I played against them I didn't feel any pressure and anyway it will be 11 vs. 11 in the field. I'm ready to give 150% for Chiefs in this match. The only concern is that we have been missing some chances, that's why the coach put me on the spot saying it is high time I start scoring goals," Nale says.
"I don't have that killer instinct yet, but I don't think what the coach said puts me under any pressure, because it is what I have to do. He's been very encouraging and keeps telling me I'm a good player, that I do everything and I create chances. I know how to get myself into good positions but as I said the killer instinct is not there. I know the coach wants me to score the goals and I'm ready for the challenge," Nale adds.
