Marlin happy to be No.1 again

Posted: 2010-09-09 10:18

Goalkeeper Calvin Marlin is happy to be back in Mamelodi Sundowns’ playing squad and to have claimed the number 1 jersey back at the club.

Marlin struggled with game time last season under Hristo Stoichkov, but now with Antonio Lopez-Habas at the helm as club head coach, it seems that the former Ajax Cape Town keeper is enjoying his football again.

The keeper has yet to concede a goal since the start of the League after keeping clean sheets against both Moroka Swallows and Platinum Stars.

Speaking to KickOff.com, Marlin hails the great new found spirit at Chloorkop which he says is behind their good performances in their last two games.

"It is nice to be back and I am hoping to keep up my performances this season. We also have a new goalkeeper coach which has also helped me improve my game.

"We have a great coach in Habas whom we understand well as he was with us last season and the only thing for us to do now is to continue doing what he wants us to do on the field."

The former Seven Stars goalkeeper says their main priority this season is to win the League.

"As we are already out of the MTN8 Cup, our ambition now is to win every tournament on offer with our main priority being the League Championship this season."

what do soweto panthers and chips n masala have in common? Panthers owner, Albert Mokoena is gay and so is hunger boyz fc owner's son, kaizer jnr and Josta. Part of de deal between these two teams due to recession at natulawayo is that Albert Mokoena will 'marry' both Kaizer Jnr and 'Josta' and service them as an when he/she needs them.

jonathan i think you got it right there for amoment but disagree with the fact that you say marlin must call it a quit ,he still got what it takes to be a keeper.but what i personaly think is that the couch must start using the young keepers for the futere of the club.and sa sqaud for the hole.downs kayi one.

Stonza: 2010-09-09 12:00

shame General 6-9...losing points while focusing on something you might not even win...wafa x2 is nothing copmpared to the honors of winning...professional footballers knw priority is wining da league....the small cups are for small teams...

Marlin, stop being so excited, personally I know you are a good keeper who can read moves play as a sweeper and perfect it, keeper who come second to that is Josephs but we all know the number 1 keeper (Khune). It shouldn't give you much excitement sidelining of Baloyi because I don't know what he has done wrong over the past games, its all about coach preference, I saw it was coming in Charity when there Sandilands who has currently underperformed when given a chance at Downs, he is not my favourite either, thanks deal with Chiefs couldn't materilise.
