Aki slams Henyekane error

Posted: 2010-09-09 09:19

Mpumalanga Black Aces coach Aki Ayiomamidis has castigated defender Joseph Henyekane for what he terms as a 'lack of professionalism' after he was exposed at the back to allow SuperSport United to score their second goal at the Lucas Moripe Stadium yesterday.

United beat Aces 2-1 to secure their first three points of the season.

The result against the defending League champions has not gone down very well with Ayiomamidis who feels they were let down by defence, especially by Henyekane who left his position at left-back and tried to overlap on the right flank leaving Matsatsantsa open to a counter attack.

Fikru Teferra exploited the situation and scored United's second from a cross from Jabulane Maluleka in the 59th minute.

Speaking to KickOff.com after the game, Ayiomamidis says Henyekane showed no respect to the club for committing the defensive error and would have been fined if he was playing in Europe.

"This was unprofessional and I didn't expect a player who has played at the highest level in the country to commit such a mistake. I did not see any reason for him to leave his position and overlap on the right flank. His mistake cost us the goal.

"The players are paid big money and the only thing they know is drinking. In Europe you get punished and fined heavily for committing such mistakes. This was just unacceptable."

Ayiomamidis sat on the stands during the game against Matsatsantsa as he has still not received his work permit.

Aki if you coached in a real league before, you will realise that it's disrespectful to air your dirty laundry in public, especially to the media. Good luck on getting Henyekane to play for you now.

This is unfortunate especially if the criticism is made public by the very same person who is expected to uplift the morale of the players. I watched the game and was impressed by the manner in which Aces expressed themselves in that game.

Coach get your acts together and avoid blaming your player in the media, otherwise you will be amongst the first casualties of coaches who will be sacked this year. I've never been your fan and please don't fuel supporters to get behind your sacking.

This very unfortunate of course to be critisized in the media like this.
The coach would be singing a different tune had Henyekane created a goal with that overlap. Europe is a foot this is Africa, your ****** agent.
