SuperSport United beat Mpumalanga Black Aces 2-1 in a League match on Wednesday night.
The goals came from Dipsy Selolwane and Fikru Tefera for SuperSport, before Aces got a goal back through Zuke.
Aces, despite grabbing a consolation goal in the final minute of the match, were mere spectators on the night as United outplayed them in every department.
Aces started positively, and had the first shot on goal in the fifth minute. Marc Eberle tried his luck from about 35 yards out, but saw his effort sail narrowly over the crossbar.
That was about as good as it got for the visiting side as SuperSport quickly knuckled down in the midfield and started creating some chances of their, own with Kermit Erasmus looking particularly dangerous for the champions.
Finally, in the 26th minute all United’s pressure paid off. Selolwane picked up the ball about 22 yards out from goal and let fly with a powerful shot that found the bottom left hand corner, 1-0.
Erasmus came within inches of doubling his side’s lead six minutes later when his 20 yard shot just sailed over the cross-bar with the keeper completely beaten.
The second 45 minutes were more of the same as SuperSport took firm control of the midfield.
That goal came in the 59th minute courtesy of Fikru Tefera, who concluded a good passing movement by United when he fired home from only six yards out to double his side’s lead.
SuperSport continued to press, but squandered their chances.
It was Aces who found the third goal of the night in the 91st minute of the match. A quick free-kick by the visiting side caught the SuperSport defence sleeping and allowed Ramulondi through on goal. He made no mistake firing past Brown from close range to make it 2-1.
