Thulani Ngcepe hoping for more game-time at SuperSport United

Ngcepe won't get carried away

SuperSport United’s Mopani Cup hero Thulani Ngcepe insists he will not getting carried away by his exploits this past weekend.

The Under-23 international was the star of the show as his two goals helped the League champions to victory over Orlando Pirates, but he remains modest.

“There is no use getting worked up by that kind of performance. That was just like any other game and it feels normal, despite having scored a brace. It was a friendly match after all,” he tells KickOff.com.

However, Ngcepe is hoping his performance will lead to more regular game-time under Gavin Hunt. The 20-year-old has started mostly from the bench since signing from Moroka Swallows in 2008/09.

It is at Swallows, then under Ian Gorowa, where at 16, the Tsakane-born player shot to prominence, becoming the youngest player ever to score in the Absa Premiership, netting on his debut against then-Silver Stars.

“There is no doubt I can hold hold a place in the side if I maintain the kind of form I displayed over the weekend. With a lot of hard work and composure I can score goals this season. I always believe that out of hard work comes out something positive,” Ngcepe says.

He will be hoping for his chance when SuperSport look to bounce back from an opening day 3-0 drubbing by Bidvest Wits against Mpumalanga Black Aces at Super Stadium on Wednesday.

Ruud Krol must adopt new tactics if he wants to beat Chiefs this weekend.

Open letter to the Esteemed Mr. Sibanda:

Thulani Ngcepe made his debut against Platinum Stars, when he was 16. He scored a goal on debut. The fact that you got wrong was that Gavin Hunt gave him his debut, not Ian Gorowa. If memory serves me correctly, I believe he did not play for Swallows while Ian was the Coach.
