Court nullifies NFF elections

Posted: 2010-09-06 18:40

A Federal High Court has nullified the NFF elections, and ordered senior officials to appear before it for contempt of court.

The court also ordered that the most senior official in the federation take over the administration of the Glass House pending the determination of the substantive suit.

Twenty eight persons, including past and present sports ministry officials have been directed to appear in court on September 24 to face charges of contempt.

The controversial elections, which ushered in Aminu Maigari and a new board, were held in defiance of at least three court orders, with the electoral committee claiming they were served no court processes.

However, former NFF board member Obinna Ogba admitted over the weekend that the committee did receive at least one court order and chose to ignore it.

An attempt by NANF President Harrison Jalla to serve a second court order was rebuffed by armed men of the Police Mobile Force.

Prof.: 2010-09-06 19:23

What do they mean by "The court also ordered that the most senior official in the federation take over the administration of the Glass House pending the determination of the substantive suit."
IS MAIGARI NOT STILL THE MOST SENIOR OFFICIAL? I NEED CLARIFICATION PLEASE. Otherwise, it is good news!

Nnam: 2010-09-06 19:35

Like country like the football house...where we have sworn by all devils never to do things properly...most senior official(wonder who is the most senior) hmnnn ok oo let the soap opera continue we are as usual at the sidelines watching criminals and politricksians run down everything...hope their is sunlight at the never ending tunnel.

A cycle of surprise-amusement-anger-amusement-helplessness-anger-resignation never ends.

shola: 2010-09-06 19:39

I think the football fans will laugh last as this saga continues.

Cool Cat: 2010-09-06 19:53

Great news, let the law take it course and i hope they obey because no body is above the law.

zinzon: 2010-09-06 19:55

I sense the beginnings of a long drawn out "war"....On a wider level, if the news is true, it can only be right as no one or institution in the land can or should be above the law.

However, I fear what it possibly means for our football in the short to mid term particularly with outsiders (cue, FIFA) getting involved.

Harrison: 2010-09-06 19:59

For long i've stopped commenting here just because V I P..Vangabonds In Power at NFF have refused to learn and respond to over 150 milion soccer Nigerians crying for a Change. Maigari is a product of Lulu, Who is fooling who? If u sell a Monkey and buy a Dog, a Squating animal is still in your house, we have not made any change yet, Now they are playing pranks with the hiring of SiaSia, he even reduced the amount of his salary to the barest minimum yet they dont want to hire him on the job as he merited it, I dont trust any of those Vagabonds who parade themselfs as NFF Officials, you need to close your nose when they speak cos their lies stinks. I dont care any more if FIFA ban us, we better get banned and do the right thing than ending up in a Dungeon of Winter Castle with the Rogues at the Glass house. let those who know about football take over the Glass House and allow Siasia to handle Super Eagles..anything apart from this..the Worst becons. Harrison, California, USA.

footballogy: 2010-09-06 20:34

I can imagine, looking at the My garri and his crew in NFF, I dont think anything good can come out from the mud house with these people in charge. From the lacklustre performance the so called Super Eagles had against a Madagascar. A country like Madagascar have never qualified for any major tournament! I'm dazed, and I cant stop weeping for Nigerian football.
Can you see how the whole team struggled with the school boys from a non football nation like that?
From the fat body Daniel ****tu, to the pot belly Joseph Yobo, and the pregnant Man John Mike Obi, and then amoeboid Eneramo, I wonder what the future holds for Nigerian football.
Please court remove them all, we have better people in this country that can manage our football!

The highest revelation of all time is that God is in everyman,Thanks to Obinna Ogba for his confessions.I said it before, but someone call him self Katsina in this forum was abusing my intelligent.Jesus was never surprised by anything that happened because he was so perfectly in line with the father's will.So @Katsina,mind whom you are insulting.

this is buulllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll****. NFF or NFA whatever you call yourself you guys should always remember that no body knows tomorrow, if you do-good, good things will always follow you if you do-bad, bad things will always follow you. No more respect for humanity in Nigeria, the quest for money is the talk of the day. God please come help us.

Obioma: 2010-09-06 21:20

wow this is a welcome news but for how long will the Federal High Court nullified the NFF elections for one or two weeks?Fifa u people better live Nigeria alone.

Olumide: 2010-09-06 21:25

My only prayer is that they should all go to jail for long enough time for our football administration to settle down and straighten out, the Judge should be stiff and stern and bring people like Amos Adamu or Babatunde Aremu or whatever he calls himself to book, he is the major problem we have as concerns the NFF, he is the one pulling all the wires with that irredentist Taiwo Ogunjobi.

Agbe: 2010-09-06 21:34

@jafar, I totally agree with you 100%

Olumide: 2010-09-06 21:37

These people almost made to start hating on Jonathan, I thought he was was not serious and mindful about handling this NFF issue, now I feel much better that there are people somewhere mindful of everything that is going on at NFF and they wont allow them to get away with this insult on our collective intelligence,to whoever is engineering the scenes behind, Nigerian football lovers are SAYING A BIG THANK YOU,the most senior NFF official outside the current fraudulent board could be any member of the federation in any of the states FA who has been consistently elected to his state board and he could come from any of the states, to find that person all the court needs to do is check through all the state FAs and see the longest serving member.

Clovis: 2010-09-06 21:40

Thank God. please don't stop there let the long arm of the law reach all other corrupt officials in the land as well.

Afeez: 2010-09-06 22:12

@Jafar, what is your problem? How do you know those girls are over-aged?Are you their parents or you have their birth certificate? Why do we always looking for ways to pull patriots down?If they had lost that match, you would keep mute and pretended nothing happened. What have you even ever done for this country than your blind criticism? You are an enemy of progress and if you are not careful you may never get praised for whatever things you achieve in life henceforth. A word is enough to the wise.

Afeez: 2010-09-06 23:08

@Jafar, if actually you are speaking the truth, provide your evidence. I don't believe in hear-say or rumor. Your claiming that you are speaking the truth when you cannot actually prove it is unconvincing, senseless, and illogical. My piece of advice for you would be to keep quiet on issues you have no knowledge about in order not to incur the wrath of God. Assumptions, more often than not, are often wrong. A word is enough for the wise.

@jafar,i support u but not when u starts talking rubbish about our girls, even if our girls are over age, how do u know that the other teams are not? this is game and everybody want to win..maradona scored with hand, cameroon beat us many times with referee disallowing our goals and they went home with the cup, nobody complain..pls leave our girls alone there are the only team that gives us joy now.

Afeez: 2010-09-07 04:30

@Jafar, now I know you are not a Nigerian. You are one of those South Africans that often come here to cause confusion. Your argument lack basis. It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than to want to determine somebody's age by physical appearance as physical appearance is often very deceptive. I'm afraid you would have problems with your lecturers( if peradventure you are a student) if you keep arguing like this. I rest my case. A word, to the wise, is enough.

Nnaa.!: 2010-09-07 10:10

@Afeez: I totally support your opinion regarding the actual age of the u-17 girls.

@Jafar: you say 99% of nigerians know that the girls are over-aged right? where did you draw your sample from? who are these Nigerians in question here because even from this forum, it appears a lot more people are against your opinion than those that are for it. And basing your reason to what we see on T.V my friend is totally miopic (am sorry to say). Biologically, girls develop faster than boys, even in your secondary school, try and remember those people that were in JSS 2 OR JSS 3 with you (or in elementary school as the case may be), recall how big they were... a lot of them had even developed hips and breasts even before your voice broke. Lets even ride with the things we see on T.V, what will you now say about the Irish, Bravilian or even the Korean girls, didnt they appear over-aged too. My friend, this is an honest opinion and am not in the habit of calling names, but since you are not a parent to any one of them, it will definately be impossible to decipher whether or not they are over-aged. Enjoy your day.!

Why do we bother disturbing ourselves on such political matters. They'll just turn it to a 'family affair' and come up with a reult we'll all be dissatisfied with. As for Siasia, what has he really done except use overaged players at youth tournys? C'mon lets stop fooling ourselves and do what is best. Get a proper tactician and get along a long term plan for the 2013 nations cup and the 2014 world cup

I support the decision of the court. I read Mr. Obinna Ogba's confession and had a mixture of good and bad feelings. Good because its like a break through in the quest for a thorough cleansing of the Glass house (I hope he does not change his statment later...) and bad because he should have voiced out earlier than this, he would have commanded more respect and stood out like a real man if he had! No man or woman....NO FIFA is bigger than Nigeria.! We love the game and want to participate but not at the expense of fairness and equity. My only wish is that the caretaker committee that the Mr. President instituted when he made that pronouncement that Nigeria was pulling out of FIFA competitions be brought back to take over the running of football, pending the determination of the suit as the court has declared....but my greatest wish is that those questionable grey areas of the NFF statutes be amended and a fresh elections conducted, this time, holding state FA elections first.! (If only wishes were horses.)....God help us!

Niceguy: 2010-09-07 11:27

@jafar: Shut your dirty mouth if you don`t know what to say and stop speaking bad about those girls. Enemy of progress, if they lost is fools like you will still say they are old that's the reason they lost and they win you are angry, why didn`t you commit suicide after they match? from my own observation they Koreans are cheaters rather, those Koreans girls looks older than 17 years.

Austin: 2010-09-07 11:37

While some people were inadvisedly jubilating that their "enemy" Amodu had been kicked out of the SE managerial position, I said that the farce had just started. the first part was the bringing in of a white journey man to reap where he did not sow, and then the dismal performance of the Eagles in SA. Act II was the impeachment of Lulu and others by the people that dined and "whacked" with him. Part III was the sham elections. Now Part IV will be that some people may/may not go to jail for fraud. Part V? FIFA will threaten Nigeria and make the right noises. Part VI: Nigeria will pander to FIFA's wishes and the whole matter will blow over. The status quo of Amos Adamu calling the shots will continue. What will change? Nothing!
How do we move forward?
1. all those culpable in defrauding the Nigerian state should go to jail
2. an independent audit of NFF account should be conducted and the results published. Any malfeasance should be punished
3. elections into the LG and State boards should be held immediately and then elections into the NFF
4. The board should rework the NFF statute to give less powers to the President
5. I forgot to add: all who benefited from Lulu's corruption should be made to face the law for receiving and utilizing stolen funds. They should be made to refund the monies and/or face jail terms.

But all in all, I am enjoying myself BIG TIME.

Nnaa.!: 2010-09-07 16:24

@Jafar: Not a problem, I'll watch closely during the course of the next match. What's even the date and time of the match? Plenty of work really keeps one out of coverage.! Good evening.
@ DISTINGUISHED FORUMITES: My opinion is that we should try to be more constructive with our opinions and or disagreements in this forum rather resorting to name(s) calling, its more dignifying that way and protrays us as true ladies and gentlemen that we indeed are. Anything otherwise ridicules us a people and makes us a laughing- stock of civilization. I salute you all.!

Hello all. Its been a while for me, commenting here at this forum. I have rather dwelt more on reading interesting comments and sometimes the 'not so interesting' ones that attack personalities. I was wondering if we all know that (especially Colin Udoh of KickOff) that our darling Nigerian girls are currently participating in the U-17 World cup going on in Trinidad & Tobago. They beat the defending champions of the competition on the 5th of Sept in their first matach and will be playing the host 2moro the 8th. PLEASE KICKOFF NIGERIA LETS SUPPORT OUR LADIES AND HOPEFULLY THIS WILL SPUR OUR MEN TO IMPROVE THEIR STANDARDS-GIVE THEM SOME COVERAGE HERE ALSO!

@Jafar, there is no point dragging issues with an illiterate and a wise idiot like you. In fact, I shouldn't have argued with you this far if you had told me earlier that you are an illiterate and a roadside mechanic. The mistake I made was that I didn't want to judge you based on the ungrammatical English that characterized your earlier writing. You have lost your sense of reasoning to your blind argument. I only pity you because it is too late for you to incorporate any changes into your life. A fool at forty will remain a fool forever. Let me warn you, I will personally petition kickoffnigeria if peradventure after this comment you make illogical and senseless comments on the girls who are laboring so hard to fly the country's flag in Trinidad and Tobago. Mad men like you will die a critic and will never do anything beneficial to their country of birth. I rest my case. A word is enough for the wise.

@Jafar, I wouldn't mind educating you on things you don't know. Of course, your condition is understandable. Ask those who go to school in your village, if any to lecture you more on oxymoron. Being a wise idiot connotes that you thought you are wise but in reality you are a nincompoop. This is not an avenue to start bragging, I can tell you, however, that attended two of the best universities in the world. I have no reason to jump down the third mainland bridge because of fools like you. I am an achiever because I often commend and shower encomium on people for their hard work and success. It's about time you woke up (Subjunctive mood) and stop being childish at 47. A word is enough for the wise.
