Bidvest Wits have signed former Bafana Bafana midfielder Stanton 'Stiga' Fredericks on a two-year contract two weeks after he started training with the club after returning from a stint with Greek club Pierikos.

George Mogotsi – the Wits manager confirms that Fredericks has signed.

"We have signed him on a two-year contract and he joins us as a free agent. He has been training with us for the past two weeks and we now have to request his clearance from the Greek club before we proceed with registering him," says Mogotsi.

Now 33 'Stiga' started out his career at Wits 14 years ago before moving on to Grasshoppers Zurich in Switzerland after which he returned for a brief stay as a Student before proceeding to join Kaizer Chiefs.

From Chiefs he went to FC Moscow in Russia then returning to join Orlando Pirates before moving to SuperSport United from where he then proceeded to join Greek second tier league club Pierikos.

He has 14 Bafana Bafana caps.

Se sa le teng sefana nyana se? Who cares about Wits? The only big team in South Africa is Pirates, the only big team to have won the African Champions Cup equivalent to Europe Champions Cup.
