Get behind Eagles, Osaze tells fans

Posted: 2010-09-06 09:50

Osaze Odemwingie has asked fans to get behind the Super Eagles as they start on the road to repair an image battered by a disastrous World Cup performance.

Goals from Obafemi Martins and Michael Eneramo helped the Eagles ease to a comfortable 2-0 victory at home to Madagascar and the West Brom striker is convinced that the team are on the right track.

“We are determined to show that the South Africa World Cup was an unfortunate outing, which did not reflect the quality of our game,” Odemwingie said.

“Now that the Nations Cup qualifiers are underway, we are ready to redeem our image.

"It is important that the fans get behind the team because we need their support to do well."

Nigeria's next game is away to Guinea on October 9, and it remains unclear who will lead the team to that game, with a coach expected to be named just eight days before the match.

We have never stop to support Super egales Odemwingie. The problem is the bad condition and organisation in our football who push many of us in the revolt. All fans want to renew the admiration for our team but it depends of you,the players and NFF,etc. If you can show us that you can progress and make all of nigerians proud, evereythings will be going well, if not the revolt will be continues....

Osaze,You need to know that a tree cannot make a forest.Maigary feel that he can do without Nigeria fans.Let him and his family come out and cheer you guys up.We are done.Nigerian football belongs to maigary and his family now,let them come for your support.People are really pissed at those crooks and liars at the glass house, and dont expect any support from fans until NFF sit their a s s up.ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

Apiripah: 2010-09-06 10:43

How do you expect support from those you dont listen to?

Katsina: 2010-09-06 11:02

The only way you can back the hearts of fans,is by overhauling the entire team and replacing them with young blood at least u25,then the fans will support you,but the present SE are bench warmers in their clubs.
@Apiripah,my frnd,i dnt think u knw wht u r sayin or u r out of ur senses,all d national teams for 9ja's,not for maigari,so be careful wif ur critic,MTSWW

The Fans will sure support especial when right thing has been done by the NFF by making right appointment items of Coaching.

john: 2010-09-06 11:10

Although them tried by winning the first Nations Cup qualifying series, that is that. But e no mean much towards the expectation of the fans because they (MADAGASCAR)wasn't big taste at all.

Zinzon : 2010-09-06 11:16

NFA/NFF, as presently constituted you have outlived your welcome in spite of FIFA's diktat. Nothing to fear SE players, you'll be supported...the problem has always been the lily-livered, self-centred, self-regarding scallywags at every level of leadership in our country.

The female Under 17 team, the Flamingoes, have started their quest for glory at the Under 17 world cup with one foot in the quarter-finals of the competition, after an entertaining 3-2 victory over holders North Korea.

It took only three minutes before Nigeria opened the scoring, and who else to score, but the 'danger-woman' Ngozi Okobi.Victoria Aidelomon created the goal when she sent in a cross and the veteran of New Zealand 2008 blasted home.Despite the pressure from the Flamingoes who kept threatening to score, it was North Korea that got the vital second goal of the game through Kim Su Gyong in the 28th minute.

In the early periods of the second half, the North Koreans stamped their authority in the game and this paid dividends in the 58th minute.Kim Nam Hui crossed the ball for the diminutive Kim Kum Jong, who somehow managed to push her header into the back of the net.The Flamingoes showed character and scored two quick goals within two minutes through Francisca Ordega(77th) and Okobi(79th) to seal victory.

Next for the Flamingoes is a tricky tie against host nation Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday.Kick off is 0:00Hours Nigeria time.

We have change mined,We need Eguavoen as a SE coach let him continue his work no distraction .

john: 2010-09-06 11:51

A SERIOUS FOOTBALL BODY SHOULD KNOW EXACTLY WHO THEY NEED TO HANDLE THE JOB AND GO FOR HIM NO MATTER WHAT IT TAKES.

john: 2010-09-06 12:02

Sarah, or whatever u call yourself, Do u really know yourself??????????????????. You and who agreed to give Eguavoen the job, and for which reason?????. Eguavoen tried before and did not achieve anything SO HE WAS"T THE RIGHT PERSON.

W: 2010-09-06 13:31

Nigerians are easy to please, give them a short term vision and they are all over it. give them a 2-0 win over a team like madagasca and they will have Egwafun as a couch.. but when they loose to teams like Ghana, Cameroon or even korea they shout again.. do u want a team that u will be proud of for years to come? then give siasia the job, he knows how to find young talents or look for another man that is capable... Egwafun was sacked years ago n u still want to give him the job, are u moving foward? indecision is ir biggest problem....

Prof.: 2010-09-06 13:35

We won't get behind the Super "He-Goats" again until they give us SIASIA!

ken gadaffi: 2010-09-06 14:32

I am still finding it hard to fathom what Nigeria Soccer fans really want. Osaze has come out to say the right thing, Nigeria Soccer fans should learn to stick with their team come rain or sun. The fair weather support given to the SE will never help us move forward especially when a group of fans would want the eagles to play well even though they lose while another group dont mind how they play so long the team wins.
As long as their is division in the minds of the supporters, the players surely will find it hard to hit the right form nor will the coaches be able to come up with a particular pattern.

Of course the Interim status of the national team coach as it has been now for nearly a year does not help matters. yes nearly a year because right from when Amodu qualified the eagles for the world cup since Nov 2009, his job was never certain, Lars came and effectively spent only 4 weeks and now EGUAVOEN is not sure of how long he will be there. With such level of inconsistency of National Coach, how do we really expect a great performance from the team?
THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH

Shijo: 2010-09-06 15:34

@ Ken G, I beg to disagree with you. When all Nigerians got behind the team under Amodu (Kenya and Tunisia) did the players and coache***** the right form? Even under Lagerback, the fans backed them in SA, did they hit the right form?

Sentiments never gets a business done! Play well and you will get support! Why should I support mediocre performance and half-hearted effort? Why would I invest my money, time and passion in a bunch of fellows who just run around without regard for me?

These under-performing players will pocket millions of naira, for playing at such mediocre level, and yet, they want me to support them. Have they ever publicly said they would not take the match bonus as a way of telling us, the fans, that they are sorry for their woeful performance? Now they want support. Shioooooo!!!!!!!!

Ugonna: 2010-09-06 15:37

@W
Thank you very much for correcting ZOMBIE People like @Sarah, people like her like machines that are controled by remote control,

I just dont know the correct adjective to discribe those Nigerians who are clamouring for Eguavon as the next coach because Nija won Madagasca, maybe STUPIDITY is the right word for them. After Siasia was impresive in Two FIFA tournament they still call for Eguavon as coach for just wining Madagaska.

Was it not under Eguavon that Ghana lamblast SE with 4-0. ok lets come to look at this, the midfield and defence was very poor in the match against Madagaska. we where just so lucky that it was not a match against Spain.

the match against Madagaska does not even need a coach to win them. Yes, we saw this clearly when Ahmed Musa came in place of mikel as midfield, and he rather went against eguavons instruction by playing as a striker. Hunestly he did well as especialy the goal he missed by the cross bar.

Eguavon can not be our coach for winning a country that ranks 1007 in FIFA ranking

Ugonna: 2010-09-06 15:45

I am not supprised, this job will not be given to Siasia, Malam Maigarri and Sani Lulus plans are working according to there plans

Richie: 2010-09-06 15:54

Winning the match is all that matters, regardless of the number of goals scored. I wish the Super Eagles well in their next match away to Guinea on October 9.

Ugonna: 2010-09-06 15:57

My dear Forumites,
let me state catigoricaly that This job will not be given to Siasia because N15M is too small, Malam Maigari and his crew knows they will not get 1 kobo from it.

This N15M is for Siasia and his coaching crew and also for his mobility in search of players but non will be for Malam Maigarri and his crew. unlike the case of Las Largerback where N50M was sheared among lagaback and Sani lulus crew.

The N15M siasia is demanding for sends signal to NFF that they have no shear in it and that is why they want him to reduce it

We deceived FIFA, Nigerians, Ogba confesses

IMMEDIATE past Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Obinna Ogba, at the weekend stunned the country when he confessed to the many lies concocted by the NFF to keep its members in power, including deceiving world football governing body, FIFA, on the state of Nigerian football administration.
Ogba, in an interview published by a local website, The Nigerian Social Worker, also revealed that the NFF makes over N1.2 billion annually from sponsorship, admitting as well that the federation got a court order stopping the elections, which saw the emergence of Aminu Maigari as the new president of the body.
On the court injunction, Ogba said: “It’s true that there was a Lagos court order served on the NFF board. I am aware that Super Eagles’ former player, Chikelue Iloenyoesi, served the injunction on Aminu Maigari. The assistant secretary general of the federation presented it at our last board meeting.
“Based on the premise that the present federal government under President Goodluck Jonathan respects and stresses its official mantra in the rule of law, board members reasoned and all agreed that the election be postponed on that ground. It was part of our communiqué. The Congress vetoed it; remember, too, that the congress is the highest organ of decision in the game.
“The Director General of the National Sports Commission, Patrick Ekeji, even called myself, the then acting president, Aminu Maigari, and Dominic Iorfa to advise the NFF board to obey and respect the court order. They wrote us in that effect and left us to take the decision.”
On the decision to keep the truth from FIFA, Ogba said “there was an advocacy that the board should keep quiet and refuse to tell FIFA about the court order. Here, let me tell you, a member of the board, Dr. Peter Singabele, met with the CAF and FIFA observers and let them know of the court order, which he showed them.
“In principle, FIFA was aware of the court order but a clique of people hiding under the cloak of FIFA decided to manipulate the Congress to ignore the court and conducted the election.”
Ogba revealed that the election into the present board was manipulated by some people, who wanted to continue controlling Nigerian football, adding that there was no way an outsider would have won a seat on the board. According to him, “the former leadership of the board under Sani Lulu had the delegates in their firm grips. Their loyalty to him is 100 per cent.
“He dictated the outcome of the election. I have no regrets about how we got to this position. I can’t spit and go back to lick the spit. I have a name to protect. The impeachment was done to save Nigeria’s face and Nigerian football. Nigerians wanted and applauded what we did.
“For those who spit on the ground and went begging on their chest and licked their spittle in the process, so be it. None of us that signed the impeachment returned. It’s okay.
“I wish the others would take it in good faith and watch the proceedings. It’s only change that is permanent in life. Something will soon happen. Watch out.”
Ogba described most of the people controlling Nigerian football of as jobless men, stating: “Football administration is their full time job. They can’t survive outside football. To me, it’s a hobby. I’ve returned to my politics and business.
“Candidly, we needed to have used the will of the Sports Minister, Ibrahim Bio, to got it right once and for all. We have squandered it. This opportunity may not come our way again. Anyhow, at worst four years is by the corner.”
Ogba, who was chairman of the Marketing and Sponsorship Committee in the last board, revealed that the board generated in a year about N1.2 billion, but failed to reveal how the money was spent. He also denied knowledge of the actual amount of money that accrued to the board from sponsorship, FIFA and the Federal Government.
“By now I hope the EFCC would have gone deep enough into the matter,” he said. “I hope they will be able to make public their findings. They will know the individual involvement as it concerns money.
“I was just a board member. I do not have approval limits or powers. Mine is to attend meetings and contribute my quota and return to my state. I don’t know how much was generated.
“I know that a lot of monies came into the coffers of the NFF during our tenure. Our board participated in all FIFA, CAF and WAFU competitions. These will require so much money to prosecute. I am not defending anybody but I also do know that most of the things that were done during our time did not pass or get approval of the board. The records are there to show.
“For instance, when we returned from the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, the president told us there was no money to pay the legitimate allowances of board members. We believed him, only for the EFCC to freeze our account and got to know how much was there. It baffled us.”
On government interference on the affairs of the NFF, Ogba admitted that the Federal Government funds the federation, and therefore had the right to inquire how the money was spent. He stated: “We are all aware of the fact that Decree 101 is an existing law. It is on the strength of that the National Assembly appropriates funds for the NFF.
“Our board lied to FIFA that Decree 101 has been repealed. This is not true. This is fraud. For government to have put money in the NFF, taxpayers’ money, she has a right to ask how the monies are spent. That does not amount to government interference. This is a part of the primary duty of good governance.”

Hello all. Its been a while for me, commenting here at this forum. I have rather dwelt more on reading interesting comments and sometimes the 'not so interesting' ones that attack personalities. I was wondering if we all know that (especially Colin Udoh of KickOff) that our darling Nigerian girls are currently participating in the U-17 World cup going on in Trinidad & Tobago. They beat the defending champions of the competition on the 5th of Sept in their first matach and will be playing the host 2moro the 8th. PLEASE KICKOFF NIGERIA LETS SUPPORT OUR LADIES AND HOPEFULLY THIS WILL SPUR OUR MEN TO IMPROVE THEIR STANDARDS-GIVE THEM SOME COVERAGE HERE ALSO!
