So...the same losers that disgraced the country are being given ANOTHER chance? Not talking of Uche or Enyeama, but the other cut-rate failures.

The issue is not if Nigeria wins, it is how the team go about doing so. I feel we are in for a rollercoaster drive, again!

This is the choice, I fear, of a coach who despite all noises to the contrary has an eye to the big prize, becoming SE Coach permanently for the second time. He has chosen to take no risks by blooding new talent.

I find it extremely difficult to understand why everything in nigeria is completely in chaos for decades. From politics, sports (football to be precise), the economy, developments, religion, tribalism, etc........ "If my people who are called by my name will repent and turn from their wicked ways, then I (God) will heal their land", according to the holy scriptures. The fasely & self-acclaimed giant of Africa is gradully falling to shambles. I hope and pray that, God will revive the land and deliver the people of naija. Everything is bizzare and disorganise. Super Chickens may win against madagasca....I mean maybe since the Chickens are playing on home soil.

I have always said it , our problem for the past 5years is yakubu, he is not a gifted player, he trys his best, which always falls short, he destroyed Martins in Eagles, and other promising stars, because he had the connections. Martis is a fast and quick player that florishes on one two touch type of foothbal, martins could have been exceptional if he had played for Arsanel. He either plays very well or bad depending on the pace of the team. If they ever invite yak to the national team again, they will know we are waiting for them

Please don't be happy that you are winning MADAGASCAR, they are not recognise in Africa football, wait until you meet countries like GHANA, EGYPT, IVORY COAST, CAMEROUN before you will start commenting on recovery, SE need a lot of time to recover if not even a decade because the corruption in GLASS HOUSE is evalasting as there is nobody to deal with it

sesan: 2010-09-05 18:34

For all I care, they can beat Madagascar, Chad and Niger if they like. They are still not up to standard as far as I am concerned. What will they do if they meet Egypt, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Ghana. The earlier we start planning, the better. Ghana reaped the fruits of their good planning during the last World Cup.

Thank you Galanky. When we have politicians running football, well we will see the worst very soon. All out football administrators are politicians nominated by their state governors. Can you imagine that. Everywhere in the world, you have people who have paid their dues in football running the game, look at England, Spain, Holland and Germany. They are not politicians who are there to take part of their own national cake.

– Match venue, UJ Esuene Stadium has staged matches of the 1999 FIFA Under-20 World Cup and last year’s FIFA Under-17 World Cup.

– It once boasted a top team, Calabar Rovers, but these days they are languishing in the obscurity of the lower league.

– The southern coastal town of Calabar, widely regarded as the cleanest in Nigeria, has been bubbling since it was announced last weekend it will host this full international fixture.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria beat the visiting Madagascar 2:0 at the U.J. Esuene Stadium Calabar in their Nations Cup qualifying match on Sunday. Both goals were scored in the first half by Obafemi Martins and Michael Eneramo.

Nigeria dominated the first period, but lost their tempo after the restart with the Barea coming close to breaching the Eagles defence in the dying moments of the game.

Rubin Kazan striker Martins was been the spark in the Eagles attack, scoring a fine opening goal and creating a second. Martins struck first in the 19th minute after lashing on to a high diagonal ball and racing in before finishing confidently.

Martins was again on the end of a brilliant long ball by Chelsea man Mikel Obi in first half injury time. With much work still to do, Martins beat the right back on the run before cutting back for Eneramo to finish clinically.

The duo of Stanley Okoro and Ahmed Musa made their Super Eagles debut late in the second half with Musa showing flashes of why he is considered one of the brightest new Nigerian talents.

It's a shame. Lagerback's team was much better than this even with same dead legs: atleast they created begging chances and had a clear formations. Today Eagles hadly played and control possesion and to tell u how eazy Madagascar was, u see Yobo attacking. The midfield couldn't control the game and just imagine Eagles chasing the ball from the more enterprising young, immature madagascans. Played the entire 2nd half and couldn't add a goal and now Guinea tops the gruop with goal difference. No tactical measures from Equavoen: his players were just loading the ***** from defence to attack. Odewinge never had a business in that game. He was always feeling big and drawing the team back------- no wonder Lagerback never trusted him. Okoro brought in same selfishness of his under 17-- always trying to impress.
Nigeria, when shall we learn?

I don't think with the present outcome of this match that the eagles are ready to make us proud. I would advice that we take our mind of them until they fully recover, the game betwee them and GUINEA is going to put Eguavoen in a very tight coner because its obvious that he will loss that game. GUINEA are a very strong side and they are determine to participate in both the AFCON and WORLD CUP. The eagles should not consider the fact that they are going to be lucky this time the way they did when MOZAMBIC defeated TUNISIA for them, this time its going to be a cracker and if they continue playing slugish football the way they did today against MADAGASCAR, they should forget about the AFCON and WORLD CUP. I rest my case cos i don't need any more heart attack from them boys who are only interested in playing for the SE to get clubs after which they will start forming big boys in the field of play whereas in their respective clubs they play like machines. The don't luv their country, look at the passion with which GHANAIANS play for their country, i think they should not forget that it is this country that made them who they are today. A word is enough for the wise. I rest my case.

Madagascar is not a good test for the Super Eagles, whatever result they come out with; no football buffs would be impressed, Eguavoen should stop scheming and forget about that Eagles coaching job, Siasia is the right guy, we must all mobilise and make sure he is the one that is hired at the end of the day.

Nigeria 2: Madagascar 0
Though I didn’t watch the match live....I was following live on Play by Play with MTN football Live Qualifiers.

The result wasn’t bad at all as long as we just our 3 points and held possession for the most duration of the match.
I am quite impressed with the entire team including the subs (Stanley and Musa) and singled out Martins as my man of the man and I believe he will rediscover his form with the Russian giant, Rubin Kazan FC.

Well, Coach Austin should rally the boys around and tell them to cut short the celebration and concentrate early for a bigger showdown next month with a stronger opposition in Guinea who are currently topping the group after day 1 round of qualifiers.

Coach Austin should also begin to look for one or two more gifted youngsters to bring into the team as well as make every position competitive in the team.
This will aid competition among shirts as well as possible replacement to game-plan or injuries.

Welldone SE....!!!
God no dey sleep!!!

We deceived FIFA, Nigerians, Ogba confesses

IMMEDIATE past Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Obinna Ogba, at the weekend stunned the country when he confessed to the many lies concocted by the NFF to keep its members in power, including deceiving world football governing body, FIFA, on the state of Nigerian football administration.
Ogba, in an interview published by a local website, The Nigerian Social Worker, also revealed that the NFF makes over N1.2 billion annually from sponsorship, admitting as well that the federation got a court order stopping the elections, which saw the emergence of Aminu Maigari as the new president of the body.
On the court injunction, Ogba said: “It’s true that there was a Lagos court order served on the NFF board. I am aware that Super Eagles’ former player, Chikelue Iloenyoesi, served the injunction on Aminu Maigari. The assistant secretary general of the federation presented it at our last board meeting.
“Based on the premise that the present federal government under President Goodluck Jonathan respects and stresses its official mantra in the rule of law, board members reasoned and all agreed that the election be postponed on that ground. It was part of our communiquι. The Congress vetoed it; remember, too, that the congress is the highest organ of decision in the game.
“The Director General of the National Sports Commission, Patrick Ekeji, even called myself, the then acting president, Aminu Maigari, and Dominic Iorfa to advise the NFF board to obey and respect the court order. They wrote us in that effect and left us to take the decision.”
On the decision to keep the truth from FIFA, Ogba said “there was an advocacy that the board should keep quiet and refuse to tell FIFA about the court order. Here, let me tell you, a member of the board, Dr. Peter Singabele, met with the CAF and FIFA observers and let them know of the court order, which he showed them.
“In principle, FIFA was aware of the court order but a clique of people hiding under the cloak of FIFA decided to manipulate the Congress to ignore the court and conducted the election.”
Ogba revealed that the election into the present board was manipulated by some people, who wanted to continue controlling Nigerian football, adding that there was no way an outsider would have won a seat on the board. According to him, “the former leadership of the board under Sani Lulu had the delegates in their firm grips. Their loyalty to him is 100 per cent.
“He dictated the outcome of the election. I have no regrets about how we got to this position. I can’t spit and go back to lick the spit. I have a name to protect. The impeachment was done to save Nigeria’s face and Nigerian football. Nigerians wanted and applauded what we did.
“For those who spit on the ground and went begging on their chest and licked their spittle in the process, so be it. None of us that signed the impeachment returned. It’s okay.
“I wish the others would take it in good faith and watch the proceedings. It’s only change that is permanent in life. Something will soon happen. Watch out.”
Ogba described most of the people controlling Nigerian football of as jobless men, stating: “Football administration is their full time job. They can’t survive outside football. To me, it’s a hobby. I’ve returned to my politics and business.
“Candidly, we needed to have used the will of the Sports Minister, Ibrahim Bio, to got it right once and for all. We have squandered it. This opportunity may not come our way again. Anyhow, at worst four years is by the corner.”
Ogba, who was chairman of the Marketing and Sponsorship Committee in the last board, revealed that the board generated in a year about N1.2 billion, but failed to reveal how the money was spent. He also denied knowledge of the actual amount of money that accrued to the board from sponsorship, FIFA and the Federal Government.
“By now I hope the EFCC would have gone deep enough into the matter,” he said. “I hope they will be able to make public their findings. They will know the individual involvement as it concerns money.
“I was just a board member. I do not have approval limits or powers. Mine is to attend meetings and contribute my quota and return to my state. I don’t know how much was generated.
“I know that a lot of monies came into the coffers of the NFF during our tenure. Our board participated in all FIFA, CAF and WAFU competitions. These will require so much money to prosecute. I am not defending anybody but I also do know that most of the things that were done during our time did not pass or get approval of the board. The records are there to show.
“For instance, when we returned from the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, the president told us there was no money to pay the legitimate allowances of board members. We believed him, only for the EFCC to freeze our account and got to know how much was there. It baffled us.”
On government interference on the affairs of the NFF, Ogba admitted that the Federal Government funds the federation, and therefore had the right to inquire how the money was spent. He stated: “We are all aware of the fact that Decree 101 is an existing law. It is on the strength of that the National Assembly appropriates funds for the NFF.
“Our board lied to FIFA that Decree 101 has been repealed. This is not true. This is fraud. For government to have put money in the NFF, taxpayers’ money, she has a right to ask how the monies are spent. That does not amount to government interference. This is a part of the primary duty of good governance.”
