Bucs, SSU clash in Limpopo

Posted: 2010-09-03 07:38

Soccer Fans in Limpopo are set to enjoy a taste of top flight football on Sunday when Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United visit the province to contest the Mopani Mayor's Charity Cup at Nkowankowa Stadium.

The game between United and Pirates is set to kick off at 15h00.

Matsatsantsa communication managers David Skhosane promised the soccer fans in Limpopo that they would be bringing a full strength team for the game against the Mighty Buccaneers.

"We started the season on a bad footing and this is a chance to show our fans that we have since rectified our mistakes.

"We are taking a full strength team to Limpopo on Sunday obviously with the exception of those players involved with Bafana Bafana for the game against Niger on Saturday," he says.

atleast Pirates will have a single medal to show this season by winning this Cup, this will be the last cup they will win this season, they are only good with the Plastic cups when it comes to real life they just fade away like a mist. Pierats+Sunflops= Khosi

I do not see why the PSL should stop playing when there's a bafana game on weekend, why not play up until wednesday, surely Sundowns can play without the selected players, so is Pirates and other teams, why stop? this is killing the momentum of teams....!!!!

Mafs: 2010-09-03 08:10

Bhakajujus this is your chance to win some silverware this season. Otherwise the chairman wd have to re-introduce the "perfectly balanced team award"

You have a point bro, my team too can afford playing without Khune, Shabba and Yeye. I think we are being forced to pay attention to Bafana Bafana because it there would be a PSL game midweek, people would go there instead of preparing for going to BB game. Kinda make sense but until Wednesday as you have highlighted, we should have PSL games.

"Vuvuzelas set for blast off at Commonwealth Games"

Loved and loathed in equal measure, the drone of the vuvuzela will resonate in India for the first time at the Commonwealth Games in October.

The plastic horn, which went on to become Soccer's World Cup soundtrack in South Africa this year, will be part of Delhi's noisy celebration for the October 3 -14 multi-sports gathering, organisers said on Thursday.

Even though the cacophony received a resounding thumbs-down in Europe, the chairperson of the event's official merchandising partner, Premier Brands, said the high decibel level should not be a problem in India.

"In India we enjoy sports with lot of noise. We are not like the Europeans," Suresh Kumar told Reuters on Friday.

"The organising committee only needs to ensure that the fans are allowed to enter the stadiums with the vuvuzelas and it is not perceived as a security issue."

Kumar refused to share the sales target and where he was sourcing the horns from.

"With just a month to go for the Games to start, we have not set ourselves any target but I can assure you that supply would not be an issue."

Unlike the ones sold in South Africa, the vuvuzelas would be decorated in Indian colours and priced at a little less than $4.

Apart from the company website, vuvuzelas and other official merchandise products could be obtained from mobile vans which will visit schools in the morning and shopping malls and residential areas in the afternoon.

Good point bro, surely if Downs played in the cups end of last season with as many as 9 players in the with the national team, what stops the league continuing when a few teams have just a few players on national duty. But with Khoza and Kaizer calling the shots ...u will never know.

mash-do, Bizzah wa LeKhosi, Mafs,thivhu, Gucci Man and All psl trophies are all the Kaizer Chiefs fools who think we are not aware that this is a fundraising game to assist the poor. Kaizer Chiefs do participate in such games when invited and even go for a win. So you guys dont expose your stupidity. This game will help keep our players match fit during the break.If we win the charity cup its a bonus. As for Teko, he will not need to show his kids anything, they will read about Teko all over the place. Winning the footballer of the year for two conservative years is a very impressive achievement. Which of your current crop of players has achieved that? none, see how foolish are? Our main aim is to win the league and African Champions league to qualify for the big one the African Super Cup. Kaizer Chiefs aim is to win one knockout cup per season.

Y' know....It's not a must to comment on every topic everday, sometimes one should just sit back and look at things from a distance to get a bird's eye view and better understanding too.

Having said that people must show creativity when telling jokes or poking fun at others for whatever the reason may be.

NB:All Nsl Trophies......That Chibuku joke is tired and overdone, try using another defunct beverage like Vivo lager, Stout or Crossbow Cider ke! Yoh! Sey'yakhinya le joke ngoba ayikho funny!

Bucs to lift their first trophy of the season, let's see what Matsatsantsa has to say about it......I wonder why Chips are offended at not being invited for this years Moqhaka, it's for charity mos' no prize money there. Ay!indlala iyalubanga ulaka for shizo!

Papas: 2010-09-03 11:04

Superbrand??? You are suppose to call yourself superfool, , why do yo care if Kaizer Chiefs's just want to win a major cup while you dont even win the charity cup, , when was the last time you won any major cup? You are forgetting that they might break their legs while they want to win that mopani cup and next week you come with your excuses after you loose the MTN8 Moron...

Mesh - K 4 L: 2010-09-03 11:04

Here's how i see thing = Bafana v/s Niger

1.Khune > Will let one goal in(CHIPS WILL PRAISE HIM FOR THAT)
2.NGCONGCA > Not a BAFANA material
3.Masilela > Good cover at the back
4.Morgan Gould will cost us a lot
5.Mokoena > One of his best games(Ngoba sidlala nomswahla)
6.Letsholonyana > Our best midfielder (Pirates fans will complain)
7.Khuboni > He can't go forward & will be praised for nothing
8.Mphela > Worse bafana striker - runs aimlesly & can't even shoot
9.Teko Modise > Best player on the night - (ngoba sidlala nomswahla)
10.Shabalala > Too selfish player & will score (KHOSI FOR LIFE)
11.Parker > Played out of position,but will be too hot to handle
12.MacBeth > Shud consider rugby,but he is a good cover for inexperienced KHUBONI
13.Jali > Not a Bafana material yet,he can grow for 2014
14.Klate > Not a Bafana materila yet > too light for national team(bARks will kill me i know)

KHOSI FOR LIFE VIVA BAFANA BAFANA

Prof Yende: 2010-09-03 11:08

It will be emotional for Bucs players after winning this cup, atleast there is something for black & white this season after failing to win their only cup for the 2010/2011 season,Telkom Charity Cup.

I hear Jerry Skhosana & Bashin mahlangu have been called for trials at bucs, in a quest to win something.

Champ "Superbrand": 2010-09-03 11:10

All Kaizer Chiefs suppoters, look at pic and check the star on that Pirates shirt. Kaizer Chiefs will never have that star, not in your lifetime. It is reserved for teams that dream big, not one psl trophy per season. Combine Motaung's tender millions with Motsepe's legal billions and Kaizer chiefs will still not get that star.So can the Kaizer chiefs fans please shut the filthy mouths which expose their empty heads.

Champ "Superbrand": 2010-09-03 11:17

@Papas,

Hey you fool, at pirates a major trophy is the league. Dont insult us by bringing us down to the level of chiefs.

Nosi : 2010-09-03 11:24

The team started the race well and they were once challenging for the title. ..... Look at the guys like Teko Modise, he is great at Orlando Pirates and ... too much of umqombothi (beer made from maize (corn), maize malt, sorghum malt, ...

It has it all: Language, Violence, *** Scandals, Nudity, Corruption, Broken Dreams,... The list is endless.
I always read their news. Well, i also watch their games as i know they will be talking much and crying come end of the game. But i must say that their supporters are built in a different way and can handle the emotional roller-coaster. If i had to convert to OP i will die of heart attack or will pull the same stunt as Cosatu due to promises every season but no delivery.

strong is Chibuku beer?
=Its too strong,it can make your team run with speed for the first ten league games after loose games in a row.
8. Who is the most drunk at Pirates in Kickoff?
=Teko Modise & Katlego Mashego
9. Who is the Pirates fan responsible of supplying Chibuku to other fans?
=Mokete Sethunya
10. When was Chibuku Beer announced as the Pirates sponsor?
=Since they started not winning official trophies around the year 2000.

@Prof Yende,

It will be emotional for Pirates players when we add another star. Ufortunately it will never happened to kaizer chiefs.

Champ "Superbrand": 2010-09-03 11:45

Most drunkards graduated from Kaizer Chiefs camp. And dont label me a Kaizer Chiefs hater because the evidence is starring at you guys. I am just delivering the message that Kaizer Chiefs fans seem to forget.

Champ "Superbrand": 2010-09-03 11:47

@Nosi,

Your team Kaizer Chiefs are no where to be seen, from the begining of the race to the end of the race. So what is your problem? Which strong Chibuku is Kaizer Chiefs giving to their players?

Champ "Superbrand": 2010-09-03 11:56

@FISTOS,

Medals do not put food on your table and you can have them without playing any signifant role in helping the team win cups. Bench warmers also get medals. If a soccer career was all about medals then the likes of Kekane will not have left Supersport and join celtic, a team that is less likely to win a cup. Teko got the honers that come with money straight to himself for being the best player for two seasons in a row. Even your senior Players at chiefs earn far less than Teko. With all the sponsers he got, Teko has masde a lot of money, no one compares to him here at Mzansi.

FISTOS: 2010-09-03 12:30

Superbrand: 2010-09-03 11:56

its evry player's dream to have a medal mr,thats why our soccer going down in terms of standard,so wat u saying at pierats they dream about money and not cups an so,

henry left the gunners coz he wanted the only medal he hasn't got,
spanish midfielders are all being braced coz they got all the medals a player is dreaming for,

so palyers that play for pir rats don't want cups but want to wear a kit with a star,
PLIZ GOD FORGIVE THEM,AND DON'T TAKE ANOTHER PLAYER FROM THEM AND DON'T BRING ANOTHER MIDGET THIS YEAR

Champ "Superbrand": 2010-09-03 16:54

@FISTOS,

It is Teko's dream to win African Champions league with a superbrand team adding to the star that he is already wearing. It is every Wits and Chiefs player to get a psl knockout cup medal.
