Nigeria to advertise coaching position

Posted: 2010-09-03 06:34

Nigeria football officials have announced that they will advertise the position for coach of the Super Eagles and make an appointment on October 1.

Previously, the NFF had been in discussions with former Olympic team coach Samson Siasia, but executive committee member Chris Greene told reporters after a meeting on Thursday that the board had resolved to advertise the position.

Siasia's negotiations with the former board stalled on his personal terms, which included a $100 000 monthly wage and $1 million sign-on fee.

Authoritative sources told KickOffNigeria.com that an agreement had been reached in principle for monthly wages of $60 000, and no sign-on fee, subject to board approval.

The current development will now allow the likes of stand-in coach Austin Eguavoen, and former captain Stephen Keshi to throw their hats in the ring.

The NFF also suspended the scheduled kick-off of the Nigeria Premier League on September, to allow the resolution of outstanding issues.

These include the disputed elections into the league board and relegation of clubs from the Premier League.

Bayelsa United chairman Rumson Baribote has challenged the election of Davidson Owumi.

It hurt to be a Nigerian but I have no regret.

ejay: 2010-09-03 07:04

seriously what nigeria needs in every sphere of her life is jungle justice.. I can't wait for that day. Enemies to progress have to die a sweet death

Teetop: 2010-09-03 07:20

Goodluck Jonathan needs to step in again. I would recommend a 4-year ban.

Bam: 2010-09-03 07:35

If this story is true, then I have nothing to do with Nigeria ever again. I have no regrets leaving that jungle called naija.

Nigeria is a big shame, big disappointment to the continent of Africa, and its shameful that 150 million Nigerians will accept this kind of insult from a bunch of incompetent people......Which Nigeria? I think there is no hope for her.......

I am not surprised that we have all started complaining again. Typical Nigerians. All we know to do is complain and do nothing about the situation. We deserve the kind of leaders we get. Long before the election the Save Nigerian Football Group was formed and all forumites were invited to join and brainstorm on how Lulu and cohorts can be stopped from winning the election but not many of the forumites were interested in joining the group. Now after the election we are all back here complaining about the NFF. Maigari and co are the type of people we deserve.

ohenhen1: 2010-09-03 08:03

The sad aspect of all of this is that some Nigerians will actually believe the NFF. Christopher Greene you don't fool anybody. Nigerians are fed up with the football. That is why they don't show up to league games, that is why National stadium in Abuja is almost empty. That is why i am not going to bother to watch Sundays game, because you people re not serious, i will rather go to Church and having a nice dinner with my family.

lurdmanny : 2010-09-03 08:31

at a point in time i said the worst is yet to come, but i was called names, i bet you if it were to be lulu and co this issue would have been resolve and nigerians favourite (siasia) would have been in charge, but never the less i will say this, this is a good approach to appoint the new coach but the problem here is that who is going to interview the applicant? i rest my case as the people in glass house continue playing their game.
enjoy

Sia1 is lucky he hasnt signed a contract yet wth nff b4 d 'selectn' of dis new board. I knw dey'd aimed at frustratg him. Any1 dat served under Lulu, Amodu inclusiv, wants Sia1's downfall.Dos selfish animals in glass house dnt k abt anybody. Sia1 shul shun his ambitn 4 se coach nw. D atmosphere is stil choky. 9ja futbol may b headg 4 a dead end. I pray we evn qualify 4 nxt afcon n wc.

Nigeria Jaga Jaga, We can see the hand writing on the wall this devil called Maigari will be more selfish and worster than lulu and co. Some times I wonder why things can never go in the right direction in that country, why always this same set of people?

adewale: 2010-09-03 09:19

Wonder shall never cease. What a dream: an ugly and gaunt NFF's cows ate up the Nigerians fine looking and fat football cows, and the NFFail's cow was still gaunted after feeding on Nigerian's football cow. Is there any Joseph in the house that can interpret and provide solution to this dream? Naijazee, NFFail don come with their politricks again.

Niceguy: 2010-09-03 09:24

Why not the so called nff give the SE job to people`s choice Siasia? why can`t Nigeria do the right thing at the right time for once? Why always giving nff post to these foolish Northerners that know nothing about foot ball? while mustly they players and coaches come from South/east of the country.

Here we go again!obviously, one of the terms of agreement with Lulu not to give the job to Siasia. Let it be known to maigari that as he has choosen this path he will go the way of lulu!

Garvey: 2010-09-03 09:50

@Siemo - How wrong you are. Who told you I appointed myself president of the group. The fact is that you attended the meeting of the group only once and you as a registered member always receive mails on the proceeding of the group. I know that you could not attend most meetings because of the time difference but if you have been going through all the mails you received from the group you would have known that I did not appoint myself as the president and that we indeed contacted Felix Anyansi.

Niceguy: 2010-09-03 09:51

This Idiot called maigari have started dribbling Nigerians like his godfather lulu did, I think is time for Mr. President to call him to order and ask him where he is dribbling to. I think there most be secret behind the so called nff always denying Siasia what he merited, from lulu to maigari.

Babatunde: 2010-09-03 09:55

"When will they ever learn?"

I rest my case!!

Timi: 2010-09-03 09:58

It's very unfortunate to hear reactions of conplaint without corresponding contrbution for solution. "Sia sia is becoming ridiculous! N15 million naira montly and a sign on fee of N150 million naira for a local coach is on the high side. If he is patriotic and if he really want to work for Nigeria, he should be reasonable. Does he have grade A (UEFA)coaching liecence? If he is so good why wouldn't other teams or country appoint him for the job. Must they coach Nigeria? A good market is appreciated internationally. If these coaches are as good as they claim let them get jobs else where. Stop using the peoples sympathy to hold the nation to ransom. The truth is the future of our football, in as much as we use foriegn based players, lies beyoun our local coaches!

you are so stupid Timi or whatever you called yourself it is your kind of people are killing Nigeria am not even sure you are from Nigeria so there is no need talking with you or answering your comment coz you are simple a fool

opus: 2010-09-03 10:32

You are all MORONS apart from TIMI. How can they give the job to Siasia when his demand is on the high side. Siasia should go and apply for Niger or Republic of Benin coaching job and he should stop holding the nation to ransom. He won silver twice and so what. Does that make him a good coach? He should stop taking advantage of the current situation and concentrate in making sure that heartland's qualify to the semi-final of the caf champions league. You supporters of Siasia you are all daft.

opus: 2010-09-03 10:37

Morons go support Niger since you are hurt by Nigeria.

john: 2010-09-03 10:51

That's absolutely rubbish my guy. I don't know why delaying to appoint Siasia what he merited. Those ****ing and heartless politicians were just playing with what make all Nigerian happy and feel like one nation, oh my GOD it is a pity, is like to me fire on the mountain and no one near to rescue. GOD help us.

john: 2010-09-03 10:58

I said it before that it far better to ban Nigeria foot ball. If such thing don't happen i don't think Nigeria football can progress. Mr. President ban Nigeria football if you have no other solution to resolve this problem, let it be banned so that those criminals will eat their ****,this is a great mess, what a nonsense !!!!!!!!!!.

Maigari and his cohorts used the idea of Siasia to deceive Nigerians as people that meant well for Nigerian football. Its really a pity that people that dont have any business with football just force themselves there as a way of embezzling tax payers money

ugibest: 2010-09-03 11:18

Lulu's board is even more preferable to Maigari's board. Maigari's board has taken a step in the wrong direction. how long will Nigerian football keep crawling

I am one of the big supporter of Mr. President Goodluck Jonathan, for the President of our country but with what is going on now in the country and our football I don’t think he is capable to lead us, they are all the same I come from the same state with him but I don’t no any more.

So ridiculous! Some people say Siasia is asking for too much($100 000)to do a credible job of resurecting our DEAD football. I would like the same people to tell us what Lars did for us having received $300 000 monthly.Oh I forgot he is a white man, I forgot it's part of our tradition to dump our money into the hands of Oyibos to develop their land, then we queue at their Embassies to obtain visas to emigrate. How would a good thinking Nigerian criticize Siasia at this time or fans clamoring for his well deserved appointment. Is it not clear enough the game at NFF? Even Eguaveon they want to employ once told them that it's Siasia's turn as the whole(resonable)nation wants him there.Deliberately they don't want to do the will of the people! My Jonathan should once again step in. By the way Maigari still has a case with EFCC so I think it'll be much easier.

I am happy thing are begining to unfold this way! When Mr. president banned Nigeria from Football, some forumites were saying millions of careers will be ruined but forgetting that; SHORT TIME SUFFERING ACCOMPANIED BY LONGTIME SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IS BETTER THAN A CONTINUOS SUFFERING AND SMILING. Here we go again!

The useless NFF have started the politics again. Who is fooling who? Mark my word, this new board will fail again! They just used Samson Siasia for their electioneering campaign/Propaganda so that all Nigerians can give them space to get into office. Their for assignment is to tell us he will be unveil on 1st September, later said after madagascar game, and now the position becomes vacant again for prospective applicant. One thing is certain, they have already known their candidate and the truth is that the person is NOT Siasia!

They planned their game very well against all soccer loving Nigerians and they won. What a game plan! But One day, nemesis will catch on every one of you all! Thieves, Barawo, Ole !!!!!!!!

mayor: 2010-09-03 12:39

@ Opus, you are the biggest Idiot on this forum for calling others morons! Who is taking the advantage between NFF and Siasia. You must be sick up stairs! How much did they pay Lagerback? What is good for the goose is equally good for the ganders! You are full of Oyinbo mentality (Second Citizen in your own country) Idiots!!!!!!!

Moshokalusha: 2010-09-03 12:43

Pls,dont buse and insult Northerners or Hausas again.
Northerners are not fools, there are only some fools among them. Unfortunately for my country few fools among them get to the highest and sensitive position.
There are MANY FOOLS in the South but they are smart enough to know that sensitive positions should be left for intelligent and competent ones among them.
Let us weep no more, "sit-down-look" posture will be better now. God bless Nigeria. BUT IS GOD STILL LISTENING TO US?

Dee: 2010-09-03 12:55

@Timi and Opus, don't forget he is responsibile for paying his assitance. $60,000 is not his net take home. If he hires 3 assistance, he is responsible for them and you now Siasia usually has foreign assistance. Please always try to make wise comments here.

The word.: 2010-09-03 13:05

@TIMI and OPUS, do you guys think you know better than 150 million people that have faith with siasia? if you do, well im not ok with that your assesment.

if white man can come here and charge us huge amount of money and perform less, how much more our oun people. not ordinary people like amodu, eguavon, james peter, bosso etc.

dont you guys think if saisia is well paid, he will command the respect of the players? siaisa negotiated with nff based on his capabilities and what the white man could have done if they come to us.

dont you guys think giving siaisa the opportunity will boost the morale of other good nigeria coaches like obuh. they will know they can get worth of their service.

dont you guys think, its about time we stop the way our local coaches were being treated by nff? siaisa was able to confront them face to face. moreso, siasia is not ready to negotiate "PAY-BACK" to them unlike other coaches in the pass.

finally, dont you guys think its about we should rights many wrongs in nff once and for all. its start from somewhere. it might start from siaisa[i dont know]. siaisa might not be the best coach to handle nigeria right now, but definitly not in the same categories with the likes of amodu and bosso. my points is 150 million people cant be wrong.

Prof.: 2010-09-03 13:16

Kerewa: 2010-09-03 13:27

@Prof, they are not here cos they have seen this day since. Anyway, all forumites weep not. Its what FELA called government magic.

enugustephen: 2010-09-03 13:30

now many nigerians should now agree with me that what nigerian need right is somebody like Jerry John Rollins of Ghana who could revolusionize the who system. those in the helm of government are not caring about the citizens, and now the only thing that brings joy to million of less privilleged are now being taken away and no body cares.God save us.

Segun: 2010-09-03 13:39

It is all in our hands. We can decide to move forward or remain stagnant. I think we have myopic set of leaders in NFF. If I were the board members, I would have moved the last election by 6 - 8 months while a transition committee is set up. That would have given us the chance to always have our election in a non-World cup year. The power tussle affected our pre-world cup and post world cup programs. Others who had problems during the world cup like France, Italy, England have since moved on. Why are we delaying the appointment of substantive coach when the preparation for AFCON 2012 should have begun.
I know people are entitled to their opinion but I think Siasia needs to be given the chance to build a new team. We have some enterprising young players coming up who could be made to play together from now on to get used to themselves. I am not sure that Eguavoen will be bold enough to jettison some of the present players (****tu, Sodje) and look for the big picture - where do we intend to be in the next two, three years. I hope something urgent is done soon.

Onyoko: 2010-09-03 13:40

@SIEMO, You got it wrong. Garvey did not appoint himself as the president of SNFG. However, he was a protem President meaning that a substantial president will emerge later. I thought we should have left frivalous issues and fight for that common goal of ensuring that the right people take over the positions. Siemo, there are so many members in Nigeria. Due to security reasons you may not know. The case of Anyasi was well treated but will not like to discuss that here. My brother let us forget our differences and come together to ensure these tyrants are checked etc. We cannot fold our arms because this is one sport that brings joy to faces of Nigerians and unite us the more. How I wish!

Onyoko: 2010-09-03 13:58

My-Gari and Lulu Nigeria Limited announced that they will throw the post open. I can see the hand of Esau and voice of Jacob. I will advise that in the spirit of fair play, Augustine Egavoun and Keshi should not apply for the post at least for now. I wonder when these old idiots will start reasoning like human beings. My Gari just played a fast one by raising the hopes of the fans that Siasia will be unveiled on Sept 1 just to calm nerves down so that the stupid selection called election will go on, even with court injunction. They will never have peace in their families. I think the best thing is for the federal government to intervene again and dam the consequences until we get it right. Imagine everywhere I go smaller countries that are suppose to respect us are making jest of us. God forbid bad thing. I have found myself in this part of the world and will not run away because of this sadist manning the post of NO FUTURE FOCUS NFF.

Sarah: 2010-09-03 14:19

Stephen Keshi
Austin Eguavoen
Samson Siasia

Honestly i like the way things are moving now,Please NFF people dont mine our comment here in this site because some people here are idiots.Exactly what happen to AMODU so many fans here say that AMODU must sack and bring a foreign coach at last what happen .Now they are saying that NFF should give SIASIA the job.Myself i love SIASIA but its not the right person for now.We have somebody like KESHI.These three coaches are good coach and I believe any of them can handle the job well But i support STEPHEN KESHI because he has coached two international countries and he has experience than other two.SIASIA coach under 17 and 20 but he has a long way to go for coaching and EGUAVOEN has a experience because he has be three assistance to foreign coaches,Please my people let us rethink and reason together as a human beings OK ,

tituyu: 2010-09-03 14:33

Let me get this right, siasia is going to employ foreign assistants?, thats funny, cos we do not want a foreign coach, but we can condone foreign assistants....Nigerians a re confused..as of the case of NFF throwing the job open, i think it is a great idea...siasia is not the only coach in the country, he was given a golden opportunity to land the job. but like every other nigerian aspiring for national employment, he showed he is an opportunist...So now he should compete with others for the job.....

The word.: 2010-09-03 14:57

@tituyu, the foreign assistants we are talking about are not to coach our players. their main job is to scout around the world for best legs for SE. thats the mistake most of our past local coaches made.

secondly, these asisitance will "spy" on our opponents and report back to siaisa. we can remember kalika very well during olmypics with this role.

all europeans coaches do this, why not us.

ken gadaffi: 2010-09-03 14:59

@prof, I am very much around. I read most stories here but have just decided to comment less these days because I am personally not happy with the trend of things going on in Nigeria generally talkless of the football.

It appears all the talking and noise being made on sites like KON goes no where
We the positive minded people have to find other ways to effect positive changes in the nation.

Kudos to all those who have kept the faith going, we shouldnt lose hope yet but remain hopeful for the best to come.

Siemo, you seem to have lost track on what the Save Nigerian Football group stand for. For your information @garvey never self imposed himself as the president of the group, it was an unanimous decision by all to appoint him as the substantive President. besides, we have several key people back home in Nigeria who have been ensuring that our voice counts in the issues at stake, i guess you havent seen most of our press statements on major sensitive issues of which most were in favour of the group especially when we called for President Goodluck to rescind his decision.

The point Garvey is making is that there is no use for us to come here on KON and vent our anger to those ruling the football house without making efforts to bring about positive changes. It is the truth he has said but not all may agree with that.

Cool Cat: 2010-09-03 15:17

Let due process take it´s course, even if Siasia emerges at the end then so be it, we must learn as people to follow laws and if not then why the laws?, maybe the past board members bypassed the laws of the land and that does not mean the new members would want to follow such as that will definitely lead them to the same direction while the fact remain that Siasia is not the reason for our failure and cannot be the reason for our redemption , the other fact remains that popular demand cannot override national laws and interest, so that is the main reason we have managers at the NFF and when ever they fail they are to be held responsible and not the population so let everybody allow this people screen the coach and not cry fowl when it is not yet over, and who says Siasia cannot come out from the screening??, so we must keep abreast of happenings and hold them responsible for their actions, so after all Lulu has gone through recently if he ever get any chance to represent the people again , i´m sure he´ll do better than before.

@timi, you made great sense by your comment. The problem with Nigerians is that they are too sentimental in their judgement. Much as I want Siasia to get the job and be paid well, we certainly have to look at the conditions from the right perspective. Oh yeah, Is Siasia a world class coach? has he gotten the pedigree to earn him such a fat pay? these should be looked into and not just for the sake of giving him the job because he is a Nigerian.

If this announcement is true, then what else? I think Abacha is the only person who can handle these idiots in the Glass House. I saw this coming, so I'm not surprised at all. The problem isn't what can an Hausa, Ibo, or Yoruba man do, or know about football: I think we(nigerians) are the problem of ourselves. We aren't unite, we never speak in one voice, everyone does what he/she likes. There is no more discipline in the society, people lack knowledge in doing simple thing successfully. The questions are, who is leading who? Who is governing who? Who is fooling who? I'm not trying to insult anyone, but what I know is that, my beloved country, "NIGERIA" is yet to have a good leader. We don't need a braveless president, who vomits, and at the same time eats up the rubbish. A real(responsible) man stands on his word even if heavens will fall, because he must have think before taking the action. Remember, Abacha stopped SE from participating in Nations Cup hosted by South Africa some years ago because of Mandela, and he succeeded. President Jonathan is the cause of all these bull****s, and the ones to come. I think we don't need a baby president in that country, we need a well matured man, who does what he feels is good for the nation, not what a group, or an individual tells him to do. Maigari or what's that your name? I know by the power of intuition given to me by the supreme being that, you aren't going to succeed in that office, because you weren't honest from the begining. You rigged your ass into that sit, and you are causing the innocent, faithful, football lovers nigerians to start going through another agony, may the Almighty God punish you for this. Amen.

You rigged your ass into that sit, and you are causing the innocent, faithful, football lovers nigerians to start going through another agony, may the Almighty God punish you for this. Amen.

@Anini reloaded - You are quite right with your opinion but what was the reason for the old board of the NFF which is almost 100% identical with the new board to spend weeks negotiating with Siasia before the election and now after the election come out to tell us they want to follow due process. Your guess is as good as mine. The SNFG asked about the rational behind that negotiation in one of their press statements in July. http://www.savenigerianfootball.com/?q=node/52.

ABSOLUTELY WITH THE FAIR THROW AND IN LINE TO RAVAGE THE PROS AND CONS NFF MADE A VERY NICE DECISION. HOW CAN HE SIASIA REQUEST FOR A LARGE SUM OF 100K DOLLARS A MONTH AND 1M DOLLARS OF SIGNING ON FEE; IN ADDITION TO AN APARTMENT, A DRIVER AND AN OFFICIAL CAR. GENTLEMEN THATS GREED. NFF SHOULD THROW THE JOB OPENE. THE DECISION IS WELCOMED. INDIRECTLY HE FEELS WITHOUT HIM NIGERIA CANT PRODUCE A COACH WHICH IS WRONG ASSUMPTION .mike USA

teeboy: 2010-09-03 15:51

@Sarah please your comment lacks substance. Tituyu I am amazed that you are calling Siasia an opportunist. You guys never see beyond your nose. Because Siasia is a Nigerian so he'll do business at a loss? This is business and if we can pay Amodu N5mil per month, why can't we pay Siasia N9mill per month? Amodu was negotiated down to 5 million and he accepted. Siasia will not budge further down and they are screaming. He knows his onions and even if he is not World class yet, I don't see what any other foreign coach can do better than him if the coach will take same salary like Siasia.
1. 50% of the boys we want to play for the Eagles in the near 1 to 4 years from now all know him and have played for him.
2. This is a guy whose type of football has not given us serious headache in the past even the team that lost the under 20 in Egypt were always in control of games except the lack of ideas in front of goal which I can attribute to the players not the coach. They created chances but could not score.
I marvel for Naija. It is obvious that Sia is not ready to give them 20% of his salary so they want Eguavoen who will give them 20%.
Keshi I like, but the story between him and Adebayo still lingers and he could not even win Africa under 20 for Naija and then qualified Togo for World cup. Then failed to take a Malian team full of stars to the world cup and fumbled in the Nations cup. Keshi, I hear takes bribe which may not be in the best interest of the team.

Note: If you don't pay the coach well, he will be looking up to the players and then he will not command respect. IF he is well remunerated he will have the guts to discipline anybody. Do u want a Coach earning $5,000 per month to talk to even Anichebe earning over £20k per week?

Corrupt Nation.

teeboy: 2010-09-03 15:58

By the way, I am hearing some rubbish due process; Hey.. A team looks out for a coach interviews him and that's it. IF you don't like him you talk to another person. All these your fake due process is to find out who can rub palms. Capello was not employed like that neither was Maradona made Coach like that nor Klinsman nor Laurent Blanc. I rest my case

Austin: 2010-09-03 17:03

Siasia would be the right choice for obvious reasons viz: he invariably started the process of grooming players for the senior team by leading successive levels of youth teams to impressive outings at world stages. It is then a natural thing for him to be highly regarded for the job. NFF says they want to follow due process? Waste of time if you asked me. I think they are looking for a man who will lower his value and worth, to be in the postion just like Lagerback did. We were stupid enough to let be stripped of our money for just one point. If Siasia were was a pale skin we would not be talking about "due process" - the kind of "due process" we know in Nigeria. Countries that are serious know who they want, hold direct talks, finalize and then unveil, all in record time. Here we must go for the dramatic and come home with empty barrels. Please NFF, just give Siasia the job!

Austin: 2010-09-03 17:08

Before you know it, Ayansi Agu will be recommending Chritian Chukwu, someone will push for Onigbinde, another Musa Abdullahi and then "confusion will break bone". Then some smart fellow will shell money to another smart journalist and then the cycle of debate over "world class" foreign coach will start, and then estacodes will start flying for foreign interviews and contact sessions, and then .... Please give the job to Siasia now! It's so simple. If you can't afford to pay him, tell us and we will contribute to pay his wages!

kessy: 2010-09-03 19:44

THIS IS A VERY WELCOME IDEA. THE COACHING POST MUST BE ADVERTIZED. The idea of offering Siasia a no-bide contract to coach SE because he is a local or Nigerian coach is myopic in nature and a no-brainer. The SE coaching post must be an open competitive post both for Whites, Blacks, Asian, Malam etc. The best in all criteria must be appointed. If Siasia is the best among all that applies, then he gets the job but if a Chinese man is the best candidate, please lets get the best who will give Nigeria good results regardless of where the person comes from.

Garvey: 2010-09-03 19:52

lol@kessy you must be joking. Chinese?

GreenBlood4life: 2010-09-03 20:40

This people no wan hear word.... Look at the kind of mess we went through at the world cup. We can prevent such by starting early (in our plans). We have got a world class coach and we are still beating abt the bush just to eat money. Siasia and Eguaveon / Keshi / Amokachi can do it. We just have to look inward this time; and the earlier the better

TUNDE: 2010-09-03 21:16

AMODU WHERE ARE YOU, BE LAUGHING AT YOUR ENEMIES THEY ARE CONFUSED WATER DON PASS THEIR GARIIIIIIIIII

JOIN TOGETHER AND BEG AMODU AND RISEUP

Chux: 2010-09-03 23:58

Ooooooooooh ya::)sleep.@Timi, ur UEFA Licensed coach A-Z have been here. Can u tell us how much you paid them. Were they the patriots you're looking for? Is what Siasia asking for more than what your patriotic politicians and militicians embezzled? Is it half of the imprest account you and your patriotic shoe shiners receive when you go to interview coaches in London, South Africa, and even Cairo? Please sports loving Nigerians stay at your homes and watch even Chadian local League. Let -garri and co organize and watch matches involving their appointed coach(es) & players for the next four years. Sports Ministry and President Goodluck; don't intervene and don't give any kobo. When they're tired, we can then pick the pieces from where they left off.

Chux: 2010-09-04 00:04

I suggest that we cancel the last election and throw it open to all Nigerians and Timi's UEFA licensed administrators to contest. Perhaps we may be lucky to get some UEFA certificate carrying administrators to run the NFF.

Clovis: 2010-09-04 01:20

Wow! why does most Nigerians' in power plan, strategies their failure and they happily exhibit it to the whole world? The NFF elections was a fraudulent election at best. Now this. Stability is the key here. Why suspend the Local league because some people have issues with teams or their general manager. I can't phantom NFL, canceling the league because Raider or Cowboys are in serious dispute with personnel issues. NFF should have a governing body to handle matters such as these without canceling the league. Obviously these people are not mature thinkers and have a long way to go before ACHIEVING A WISDOM

Niceguy: 2010-09-04 19:38

@speak out there is no doubt Siasia is the best local coach we have at the moment, he is the wright person for the SE job. Reasons: (1).About 80% of current SE players are his boys, (2).Currently, he is coaching in our local league so he knows our home base players very well (3). Must of our uncapped young stars have played under him before.(4).We have seen him as a coach in 2005 and 2008 what he is capable of doing, his style of play suit our National team. @Sarah who told you that Austin Eguavoen is a good coach? where were you when Austin Eguavoen lead our national team to a friendly match against Ghana in London which lost 4-1, you are still a young girl by your comment is very wrong for you to ask a man to shut up, you have to apologize to blessedone. Siasia is the best we have now every reasonable SE fan should support him for job, Siasia have what it takes to transform the SE.

Victor orji : 2010-09-04 22:53

When can we Nigeria learn a lesson? We paid a white man $300,000,at the world cup and he failed dismally. So why cant we pay our own local coach half of largerback's wages? 4me is a disgrace to our own coach.

eziokwu: 2010-09-05 02:05

I told you guys that Eguavon is a spoiler.

idbori: 2010-09-05 06:14

We have a coach in the name of Amodu Shuaibu, who does nothing except win, yet we let go of him for an incompetent Swedish crap for an exorbitant amount of money for ZERO result. The current NFA leadership should feel no shame in begging him to come to our rescue. At least he did that twice for Nigeria(the only Nigerian to do so) without any appreciation from his own country.

ejay: 2010-09-06 10:02

Does a serious football body advertise a coaching position on newspapers and interview coaches. I will say this again. A SERIOUS FOOTBALL BODY SHOULD KNOW EXACTLY WHO THEY NEED TO HANDLE THE JOB AND GO FOR HIM NO MATTER WHAT IT TAKES...

ejay: 2010-09-06 10:10

@ Kessey, you seem to have faith in a process that has never worked for Nigeria. are you telling me the internet is not good enough to make thorough research about coaches track records etc? the advertisement/interview process is the usual dilly dally/politicking.. we all know at the end of the day a coach is not picked by merit. in the case of Lagerback it was sweet talk. i can say that Metsu was a better coach based on track record and experience in Africa.. this is not rocket science. if you know your problem, find who can solve it, and go for him..

ejay: 2010-09-06 10:12

I'M DISHEARTENED, MY PEOPLE NEVER LEARN FROM THE PAST

ejay: 2010-09-06 10:15

@ TEEBOY.. you are on point. .you have brains and you use it!

Shijo: 2010-09-06 14:06

@Kessey, please stop insulting our intelligence! It is only military mentality (that Obasanjo brought into politics) that will harp on "due process". Was it not the same "due process" that brought in Amodu and then Lagerback? A combination that has brought the SE to such a pathetic situation?

When I initially heard this news, I just lost all hope that Nigerian SE will rise again. I was therefore not surprised at the lacklustre play of the SE on Sunday. Too bad, too bad.......
