The vacant Bloemfontein Celtic assistant coach job has attracted a dozen applications that new head coach Clinton Larsen is screening as he seeks to find a suitable assistant to work with.

Among the local applicants are Molefi Ntseki, David Notoane, Johnny Ferreira and Sergio dos Santos, but there have coaches from outside South Africa that have submitted their CVs.

Celtic CEO Ikie Augousti says they are close to finalising the process.

“There are a lot of applications including some from outside the country whom we do not know. Clinton is going through the process of talking to all those that have applied because he has to be happy with the person that he brings in.

“I can confirm that about 12 applications have been made,” says Augousti.

Notoane is involved with AmaGlug-glug as assistant coach to Shakes Mashaba and has travelled with the squad to Zimbabwe where they are due to play two friendly matches this weekend.

Ntseki – a former African Warriors head coach - is presently involved in development around Free State, while both Ferreira and Dos Santos are jobless after leaving FC Cape Town and Ikapa Sporting respectively at the end of last season.
