Government's WC report next month

The committee, headed by Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe which met in Cape Town on Tuesday, has received presentations from various government departments on their draft close-out reports, focusing on observations and lessons learnt during the tournament.    The meeting also noted that all guarantees agreed on by government had been honoured.    "The intention of the report is to document the legacy of the tournament and the implementation of lessons learnt from the hosting of the tournament and also how government co-ordinate its efforts to deliver services needed for the successful hosting of the event," the Presidency said.    The lessons learnt will also seek to guide government towards the achievement of its five priorities and outcomes as part of the government programme of action.    The IMC is expected to have concluded the report by October.   It has also been announced that remuneration for more than 44 000 members of the South African Police Services who were deployed to perform duties during the World Cup is nearing completion.   The SAPS started running payments to its members in batches about two weeks ago and anticipate that the last run will be finalised by the end of next week.
