Tuks help resolve Mashaba, Batau dispute

The long-standing dispute between Tebogo Mashaba and First Division Inland Stream side Batau has finally been resolved, paving way for the former Orlando Pirates winger to join University of Pretoria for the new season.

Mashaba had signed a one-year contract with an option of another year with TUKS, but before the ink dried Batau - the club that Mashaba played for last season – were insisting that he still had a running contract with them, setting up an ugly row that threatened to disrupt the career of the 31-year-old.

However, negotiations between TUKS and Batau's management have seen a settlement reached.

TUKS' team manager Graham Oosthuis confirms that Mashaba will play for them this season.

"The issue of Mashaba has been resolved between the two clubs. We have reached a transfer agreement with Batau for which the financial details will remain undisclosed. We are happy that Tebogo will be playing for us this season," says Oosthuis.

Mashaba, though choosing to deny it, had signed a contract extension with Batau in April after top scoring for the club before he went on to sign a new improved deal with TUKS in July.

The agreement reached between the two clubs states that Mashaba will not play against Batau who will be entitled to a certain percentage should the player be sold to another club.

TUKS have already signed Christopher Netshidzivhe, Sibusiso Themba, Setjhaba Mmuso, Swaziland winger Mzwandile Ndzimande and Zimbabwean striker Nqobile Mpala.
