KickOff.com can confirm after a thorough check that Siboniso Gaxa will be playing his football in Belgium in the new season.
'Pa' has been bought for an amount in the region of R6 million after Mamelodi Sundowns accepted an offer from the Belgian club, Lierse. The move had been in tatters after the Sundowns management accused Gaxa's representative Rob Moore of taking the player away from KAA Gent, where he had been on trial, to Lierse.
As it turns out, though, there is a happy ending to Gaxa's saga. Lierse have confirmed that the right back now belongs to them and on their club website Gaxa is seen joining hands with the club's directors.
Lierse have also confirmed that the Kwa-Mashu born defender has signed a three-year deal before jetting out to join Bafana Bafana in camp in preparation for the match against Niger on September 4 at the Mbombela Stadium.
Lierse CEO Neel De Ceulaer has described Gaxa as someone who excels on the right flank.
"He is a hard worker, an outstanding defender, someone who excels on the right flank. We know that we have to strengthen in defence. With Siboniso Gaxa we've definitely acquired somebody who can play at this level," he says.
