The appointment of Samson Siasia as the new coach of the Super Eagles has been put on hold after the elections into the executive board of the NFF (Nigeria Football Federation), and to allow Austin Eguavoen full concentration ahead of Saturday's Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Madagascar.
The newly-elected board of the NFF is expected to hold its inaugural meeting in Abuja on Wednesday and top of the agenda will be the engagement of a substantive coach for the national team.
Top officials disclosed that the board plan to consult the handover notes of the previous board as it concerns their discussions with Siasia.
However, a final decision and presentation will have to wait until after the weekend clash against Madagascar.
Meanwhile new NFF President Aminu Miagari told Goal.com that the decision will be based on the former board's earlier decision. “I am sure it’s going to be part of the board's earlier decision which we will tell Nigerians very soon.”
It had been expected that Siasia would be announced as the new Super Eagles coach this week, but the NFF elections have slowed down the procedure.
