Eaglets lose to Congo

Posted: 2010-08-29 20:54

Nigeria were beaten 2-0 by Congo in an African Junior Championship first round, first leg qualifier with Golden Eaglets coach, Monday Odigie seeing red.

The Eaglets went down to an early penalty inside the opening ten minutes, and conceded another just before the hour mark.

Nigeria travelled to Congo with a team of players selected mostly from the country's two premier secondary schools competition, the Shell Cup and the Lagos Principal's Cup.

Odigie was sent off for challenging what was considered to be poor calls from CAR referee Bekai Bertrand.

The second leg will be played in Nigeria on September 11.

Mr. odigie and his over-aged boys,no suprise to me bcos the boys were tackling and making some msitakes,so i see no reason y odigie need to complain about officiating,i hope dat we should not qualify for the championship for the 2nd time,bcos the way the eaglets are playing,i dont think if they can score 3-0 in abuja unless a miracle happens.haba this coach odigie is a disaster.go correct your mistakes or you be fired from the job.ONE STUPID LECTURER AND ELEVEN STUPID STUDENTS.,mtsww

@Katsina, this match was played in Brazaville, did you watch it? Most websites (mtnfootball, allnigeriasoccer) have so far reported that the officiating was unfair. You even referred to them as overaged. What is your criterion? No wonder we are finding it hard to convince Nigerian-born players donning our colours. We are most of the times ungrateful. Only God knows the peanuts those guys have been earning since they have been in camp. We only associate with them when they win trophies.

Mobis-soccer: 2010-08-29 23:17

@katsina, No wonder u will never grow. Ur a *******/retarded. Dont worry i will interprete or translate what the reporter wrote in hausa language so that u will understand it. By the way which cyber cafe do u go to paste these ur nasty comments. Or who is borrowing time to always write out of point.Remember i ve warned u b4 that u will be consumed. Golden eagles will surely qualify.

@Katsina
You have never posted anything that makes sense. Your posts are always poor, confusing and illiterate- ridden. Do you understand English? You seem to be in a different planet with every topic.
Go back to your village and be lost. You don’t belong here.

Udeme: 2010-08-30 04:10

@Katsina, people like you say things that really do not make any sense. According to Colin Udoh, "Nigeria travelled to Congo with a team of players selected mostly from the country's two premier secondary schools competition, the Shell Cup and the Lagos Principal's Cup." WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY SAYING THAT THEY ARE OVER-AGE? Go to kickoffsouthafrica and see what South Africans are saying about their U-17 team after beating Burkina Faso. Their players look older than 17 (I mean it) but no South African is accusing them of age-cheating. Also, take a look at Ghana's U-17 and U-20 teams. Why is this your behavior ONLY MADE IN NIGERIA?

Segun: 2010-08-30 04:17

@Katsina,

Can you be more reasonable. You said 'me and my journalists' even when I gave you two other websites, outside kickoffnigeria, who reported that the officiating was unfair. Really, Nigerians are one of the greatest problems of Nigeria. If the team does well, we accuse them of being overaged. If the team fails to do well, you accuse them of not performing well because the other team has younger players. Na wa 4 u ooo. I hope that you are now happy that Maigari has been elected, let him take us to the eldorado.

To add more, did FIFA report any of the errors in the last world cup during the match report in FIFA website or even show them in the highlights. If you are looking for truth, you do not go to the website of CAF or FIFA for match reports.

Niceguy: 2010-08-30 10:46

@Katsina shut your dirty mouth idiot, who told you they boys are over age? ungrateful idiot like you.

donjay: 2010-08-30 14:43

Katsina, Katsina,Katsina! how many times did I call you? why can't u northerners for once reason like Nigerians what is actually wrong with all of you!

Austin: 2010-08-30 15:09

It is a good beginning that we are now using products of youth tournaments - people from secondary schools for U-17 tournaments. It does not matter what the other countries do to win, including fielding overaged players, we will reap the benefits later. Odigie and the NFF must resist the urge to introduce some overaged players in the return leg just so we can qualify. That will be counter productive. Let the yooung boys learn and fight for their qualification. That way they will mature into the kind of players that we want in the future U-20, U-23 and SE.

And @Katsna, your posting was a bit infantile, mixing up your thoughts and confusing the readers with your falacious expressions. I believe you can do better than that. Do not just set out to criticise for the sake of it; there must be facts and tendencies to warrant your negative opinions. what are your basis for your hasty conclusion and ill wishes?

nigeria one: 2010-08-30 15:19

@katsina,welldone my friend as you are one of the educated and civilized person among the forumites posting their comments on this site.pls keep saying the truth which is bitter especially for dishonest and mischievious people like most of the tribalists on this forum.They don't see anything good pertaining hausa people in particular or northern nigeria in general.
We all know that this is not the first time that an african age grade teams were accused of fielding overage players on this site but all those morons did not say a word until now that you 'hausaman' spoke ur mind so they now have some courage to speak evil words against you.Carry on my friendship, they now nothing compared to you.Southern lunatics.

nigeria one: 2010-08-30 15:27

I think the editor shall do something about any tribalist forumite who are using this site to condemn any part of nigeria and their kins just because they say some truth.....dont display any of those comment pls.

haszain: 2010-08-30 18:00

how can nigeria progress like this while even the people in it are not united. if nigeria fielded an overage team what is it in it, all the countries in the world are doing such things. but lets be frank if we field overage and somebody say something then we let him alone nigeria is not about south and north, but our beloved country.

Segun: 2010-08-31 01:43

@nigeria one, why can you not be sincere. You saw nothing wrong in Katsina's comment. He labelled the boys as overaged despite the fact that it was reported that they were picked from Shell Cup and principal cup. Not all comments directed at him were with tribal sentiments, probably only one or two. Most forumites addressed the issue and not the person. I would say that you are the one introducing tribal sentiment in this case. Anyway, I hope that one day, we will rise above our present disgusting state.
