Amajimbos beat Burkina Faso

Amajimbos took another step closer to qualifying for the African Youth Championship Finals in Rwanda next year when they beat Burkina Faso 4-2 in an exciting game at Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa yesterday.
After trailing 2-0 at half-time, South Africa needed the individual brilliance of Kaizer Chiefs striker Thabani Mthembu, who crowned his wonderful performance with a hat-trick in the second half.
The other goal for Amajimbos was scored by Phakamani Mngadi from Aspire Academy in Qatar.
South Africa’s Under-17 coach Solly Luvhengo blamed mistakes in the first half for the visitors two goals, but is confident that his boys will go past Barkina Faso in the second-leg in a fortnight’s time.
"We were let down by a few defensive mistakes and we were severely punished in the first 20 minutes of the game,” Luhengo admits.
“But I am happy with the way the boys came back in the second half to turn the tables around and score the four goals.
"I was disappointed to concede two goals at home but with the way we played in the second half I am confident that we will get past Barkina Faso in the second leg in September.”
